I just shot coffee...

“Online summer camp” 😂

Exactly.

Depending on how things are come July, we've just decided to spend a month away from home basically, visiting grandparents and getting a beach house for a week. Our kids need to get out of this house and as long as things are in a good spot come July, we plan on doing that and hopefully taking advantage of cheap gas prices as we have been recently (got gas for $.17/gallon the other day though that was a one time only thing).

This does not describe all churches. The church I attend started online-only services before Disney closed and is currently using their facility for food bank storage, blood drives, and Covid-testing.

When they re-open they will do it safely.

My church was the same way. They started back up in-person services this past week, but reduced their capacity to 25% (which in Texas wasn't a requirement) and are escorting you from your car to your seats in the worship center while also providing everyone with face masks to wear. We weren't ready to go back (we have kids and they won't sit still through worship), but that's definitely a step in the right direction in managing crowds and putting restrictions in place.

I half agree. GA was a mess. Poorly thought out, no logic in what opened when, no lead time for businesses and local first responders to adjust. No communication from the state to the local levels. Perfect example of what not to do. TN seems to have a much better approach. Same with FL.
I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised by Florida’s approach and how it’s been working so far. What’s a shame is that the deeper details in the pressers, which happen to include the really smart people we should listen to, are often times cut off or not shown at all on broadcast tv. I’ve been watching these via the news outlets mobile apps or YouTube. The details are astounding and they really are trying to do things methodically and slow based off of an ever evolving master plan. Items such as utilizing a mobile lab so that entire long-term care facilities, including the staff, can all be tested at once on the spot and not need to be sent to a lab for results. Outstanding! But you’d never know it looking at social media :(. There’s much to be done but I do believe we are at least trying very hard to get it right.

Smaller attractions and Citywalk locations are said to be reopening in the next two weeks. That lines up with the Disney Springs talk. Here we go. Let's see how the people who were complaining about churches and beaches rush to get their VooDoo Doughnuts and Starbucks. It should be easy to practice Social Distancing at some, but I feel local fanatics who want a slice of normalcy will ambush it.

They’re gonna screw it up...that’s a given...

And the businesses, officials are going turn the cheek to it too...Given.

Hopefully there aren’t widespread consequences. And I don’t usually wish for the less thinking to win the day...I’m making an exception.

I agree. Florida has mobilized the National Guard to do testing at the nursing homes. I’m actually pleasantly surprised that Florida hasn’t rushed things. Personal services are still closed. Smart move. Each state has their own challenges to deal with. I don’t envy any of the leaders trying to make the correct and safe decisions for their area. I do appreciate all the hard work everyone is doing to try to reopen smart and safe. Florida’s positivity numbers 10-12 days ago was 10.8. It’s now 8.3. Definitely headed in the right direction but it still has a way to go yet. I’m grateful each day Florida is taking it a lot slower than most anticipated. I believe Disney will be just as slow and cautious. They’ve got one shot at getting this right. The media will crucify them if they don’t. I want to see how the numbers go as businesses continue to reopen. I suspect Disney does, too

It certainly will paint a clearer picture on how much these third party companies handle it and how well the policies in place care for the employees, rather than the showmanship for the guests.

Once again, depends on where we are in July. We’ve been in lockdown for seven weeks (Friday makes 8 weeks). Things are reopen here and we haven’t gone anywhere. Wearing our masks when we go out.

So if you define that as a bigger risk taker, then sure?

Friday makes 12 weeks for us (oops, some of that was just my company's doing)! And I still haven't started the next great American novel (book... not virus) yet.

Sounds more like rational thinking than risk taking !

I agree. If I have an older family member, and I take proper precautions based on what is known, and I know that garndparent does not visit or live in a situation where they could spread it, and they want to see their grandchildren, by all means visit. If you wait indefinitely and something happens, then you missed out completely. Moderation in all things. It is not a zero tolerance policy forever. I hope he has a good visit in July.

So, which is it? You haven't gone anywhere or you have worn masks when you go out? Supposedly, masks help prevent you infecting others, but do not offer 100% protection against you being infected by others.

Things here in Texas reopened on Friday, we did not partake. We’ve been in lockdown mode since early March. We go to the grocery store when we need to. I go to the doctor once a week. We wear masks when we go (also when getting gas).

I’m not sure I agree with that. When I was in the hospital and contagious those who entered my room put on a mask. I wasn’t asked to put one on. So they were protecting themselves from me.

Thanks! We hope we can do it as well. If we can’t (if cases are increasing, lockdowns start ramping back up, etc then we won’t) then it is what it is. Going to be tough on our boys as they’ve been cooped up for a while now if they can’t see their family as thats usually how they break up the summer.

I will not live scared either.........if I can't be alive such as romance/intimacy, visit friends, travel, make my own decisions then I don't want to live. Either live right or don't live at all.

Roy Batty did it the right way. He burned twice as bright but half as long.

This is a tad dramatic, no? Disney Springs is (apparently) on the verge of reopening, and you’re making it seem as if we’re being forced to endure years of solitary confinement.
