Confused..

I was just talking about this the other day with a group of people. I have thought for years that DD stood for Disney daughter, and the DS stood for Disney son, etc. Basically I thought the D stood for Disney....ha. I just thought we were all that obsessed! :)

Apparently someone else had heard that before too, so I wasn't completely alone.
And we laughed at you for it :ROFLOL: :ROFLOL: :ROFLOL:

It is also, for some reason, a pet peeve for mine

When people refer to their family members as DD7 or DH, for some reason it just annoys me to no end.

I have no idea why, but it just does.

When I started out on WDWMagic I always referred to my son as DS9 or DS10... It was a clear way to identify him to people and give context of his age without using his given name on an open internet forum. In this day and age it's too easy to slip up and then suddenly you're hearing from the police that your missing son was kidnapped by a stranger who knew his name...

Now that he's older and a member here himself, I'm not as concerned about using his given name. :D

I've never had issue with folks for doing it, but if they don't I'm not going to chastise them for child endangerment eiother. :animwink:

I think its because my brain coverts it into English as I read. Typing "I went to WDW with my dear daughter ten" just sound very very wrong.

I have two kids, aged 7 and 10 and I don't think I have ever used their names, or called them DD#. I would simply type "my 7 y/o daughter"

haha yes - rightfully so! I'm so glad there's others here who seriously thought the same thing!! I can't get my mind to think of it as anything else, I've been thinking it stood for Disney for years.

My DH will forever be my Disney Husband!

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Oh that just bugs me to no end! I'm all for abbreviations, but some people take them to a confusing and annoying level!
How many times have you come across a post that speaks mostly in abbreviations and you have to stop and think about how to decipher the darn thing? Are we really so lazy we can't type six more letters?:zipit:

Dude seriously, it doesn't stand for disney husband, disney wife, etc.? Where on earth did we get that from then-I swear I saw that somewhere here when I first joined. Guess not, just disney on the brain...again.
