I never thought I would purposely plan a Spring break trip however with swimming, soccer, hockey, school and work to work around. It was the best we could do.

I had sticker shock when we looked at room and decided to do a split stay so we could get standard rooms at each resort.

April 8-12 Contemporary-garden wing
April 12-15 Yachtsman- standard

We are looking forward to walking to Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary. That’s our favorite part of that resort. The kids are SOOOOO excited for Strormalong Bay!!! We wanted to stay the whole trip at Beach Club but we waited too long so 3 nights at the Yachtsman was our compromise for my little fish!

We actually left the room at 6:20am. We got to the bus stop and the sign said next bus to AK 6:48 am. We waited and waited. The time changed again and again. At this point I realized we were not making park open so against my good judgement I booked an ILL for FOP. It was still since we just rode it the day before but with the limited rides at DAK I knew my kids would want to and a 90 minute wait was not in my list of things to do today. I took this picture at 7:18.

That's insane, maybe the worst I've ever heard of! I know I would have been torn between calling a Lyft XL or two and thinking "well it has to be coming any minute at this point, how much longer could it be??" lol, were you considering any alternative transport during that wait?

When we stayed at BLT, we also had some difficulty with the buses at Contemporary. We waited about an hour for a DS bus, and the only reason it finally showed up was because we went and talked to guest services in the lobby. You would think for the price you pay, bus service would be exceptional! I am loving your report!

My kids said no more Contemporary after this trip. Between the construction on the garden wing and the terrible busing. I just love the walk to MK so it looks like I’ll need to save up for the Floridian.

Sorry for the long delay. It’s soccer season, enough said. Since we weren’t rope dropping anything we took our time entering the park. We stopped for pictures in front of the Tree of Life since the rope drop crowds has disbursed.

As a reward for their patience on the long bus wait we went to Starbucks so the kids could get milkshakes coffee drinks and I got actual coffee. The app had Navi River Journey as a 20 minute wait so we decided to head there first. Handsome’s milkshake didn’t wake him up.

This zen boat ride has grown on me over the years.

I always get annoyed at the wait but enjoy my ride.

We decided to recreate a photo circa 2017 Nene likes her sleep so our early mornings at Disney are a struggle for her. This morning was especially bad.

The sign posted at FOP said a 60 minute wait but the line was all the way up to the inside queue. We decided to give it a go and it paid off. We only waited 15 minutes.

It was a little before 10 and we been at the park an hour and completed all of Pandora. We were shocked that this late arrival time was still pretty efficient! We had a 10:00 LL for Dinosaur so that was our next stop. I can’t remember why we were posing like this. Something to do with a dinosaur cheer.

By my face I was still surprised as ever for the dinosaur. I apparently never know it’s coming!

It was too chilly for water rides and with Everest being refurbished we decided to head to Rafiki’s Planet Watch.

We were able to hustle and make it to the next Animators class.

We had never done one of these and it was so fun! Everyone was proud at how their drawings turned out.

We visited the petting zoo where Nene was in her element. She loves animals! In Ohio we have the United States largest conservation center. Nene did a summer camp there and loved every minute!

We then went in and talked to castmembers about their roles taking care of the animals. The one below was fantastic. She kept the kids entertained and educated for 20 minutes. They all agree it was the highlight of our Animal Kingdom day.

Our tour guide must have been new. I always feel bad saying things like this but she was terrible. She knew no facts and said umm every minute. I told Nene to take over the mic since she was a wealth of knowledge. We did get to see a baby hippo though.

Our order was ready so we went inside and the kids were happy our favorite table was avaiable.

We pretty much got one of everything. Paca decided after this meal that Disney buys chicken thighs in bulk. He said that’s all he ate all week and he prefers white meat.

We used to think DAK was a half day park. Our trip in 2020 we slowed down and enjoyed some of the educational aspects. We all love DAK now and it’s a full day park for us. Thank you!

Grandma called and asked when we were coming back so we decided it was time for a break. We waited about 35 minutes for this beauty.

When we got back to the room it was only 73 degrees but that didn’t stop my water babies from swimming.

I lounged and then perused the gift shop and bought one of the anniversary soap dispenser. It really didn’t make the Mickey foam as advertised but it was a good reminder of our trip for a few weeks. An over priced reminder but still. We all got ready to head back to the park by 5:00pm. We had a 40 minute wait for the bus.

We really had two objectives this evening. To used the ILL we had purchased in the morning for FOP and to get some Dole Whip. Since we weren’t in a hurry we took advantage of a lonely park photographer.

Nene ‘s favorite park order is Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom then Hollywood Studios. She wanted a picture with the sign and it’s pretty pink flowers.

We decided to find our treat first since our ILL wasn’t until 7pm. I knew where I was heading.

We stood and enjoyed the sights and sounds around us. Once we were done we headed to Pandora. Navi River Journey was a short wait so we took a float.

Sorry for the terrible photo. It was my only shot from the ride. We still had 30 minutes until our ILL so we killed time with a PPP.

According to Bear I am a very “Cringy” mom. I do things often to emphasize this point to her. We still had 10 minutes until our ILL opened up. I do a very exaggerated slow motion walk and talk saying “ Bear slow down” in my best loud slow mo voice. She was unimpressed. We rode FOP for the 3rd and final time that day and it was just as good as the 1st time.

Since we had accomplished everything we came to DAK to do we decided to head to Animal Kingdom Lodge a little early for our 8:05 dining reservation. Unfortunately once again due to terrible bus transportation we ended up 10 minutes late!!! We waited about 5 minutes and then we were seated. I have very few pictures from this meal.

Handsome enjoyed his activity sheet. Which was a good thing since it took 15 minutes to get our drinks. Fortunately bread service quickly followed. Then there was a very long lag for our entrees. I ordered the vegetable curry with chicken. The timestamp says 9:35.
49F9322B-4BAF-415E-855C-5283D21AA209.jpeg
The chicken was very chewy and not very good. I am not a picky eater but this was just awful. It was almost 10pm and poor Handsome was nodding off. We were never offered drink refills. Our kids love this restaurant for two reasons bread service and the dirt pudding. At 10:02 the dirt pudding arrived but poor buddy was asleep.

We scarfed it down and went to the bus stop. Our plan was to take a bus to MK and then walk to the Contemporary. We sat at the bus stop until 10:45 and no MK buses were coming. We kept contemplating an Uber but we couldn’t get any quickly. Finally at 11:05 the bus arrived. When we got to MK it was an absolute madhouse. Everyone was leaving MK. The kids had fallen asleep so everyone was crying and whining it was sheer pandemonium. Bear continued to whine and complain and moan. I continued to yell at her mind over matter as everyone else cried and complained behind me. Here is where the name of the trip report comes in. As we are all angry and stomping along a British couple whose faces looked just as unhappy as ours did crossed our path going through other direction. However instead of screaming at each other the way we were the woman says to the man in the most calm and prim and proper voice possible “ We tried to walk but you walked like a sloth.” Bear and I started dying laughing and this became our new saying anytime we started getting frustrated the rest of the trip. We made it back to the room a little after midnight absolutely exhausted.

Love the baby hippo pic, but I bet it wasn't as cute as Fritz!! I can't wait to get to Cincinnati to see him! Love the Crush and Squirt drawings! That is one thing we have never managed to do at AK! Sorry your dining experience was so poor at Sanaa. It seems Disney has a lot of "little" issues like these that they need to be working on so people will want to return. I was wondering what your title meant! What an unusual thing to choose to say to someone, but I love it! And I love that you used it the rest of the trip to defuse tense situations!
