I'm off to the Dark Knight tomorrow afternoon. I just got back from Blockbuster, where I rented (along with V For Vendetta) the new Batman: Gotham Knight animated flick and....*ahem*....Batman Returns. :lookaroun (Only because I haven't seen it since I was 12 and it's the only one of the old series I wanted to brush up on.)

So yeah, I'm kinda going overboard on the Bat-stuff this weekend.

Seeing Dark Knight tomorrow evening, and I'm pretty excited. Also... the first trailer for the Watchmen film is attached, so I'm pretty excited. I've watched it already on apple.com trailers, but it'll be even better on the big screen.

If you haven't seen the trailer yet, check it out. If you haven't read Watchmen yet, stop everything you're doing and go buy the trade. (I'm kind of a major fanboy for that book, sad to say).

Also, I must definitely second GL's recommendation of Y: The Last Man. It's really outstanding. Brian K. Vaughn is one of the best voices working in comics today.

Epcot.Nut- I think a lot of people think that comics are just super hero stuff. There are so many great books out there to explore! I hope you get more and more into the world of comics, it's a great place to be! Bendis' murder mystery stuff is great, I recommend it for sure!

Wilt Dasney- Batman Returns is a good movie. I think the first one Burton did from 1989 is a great comic book film, Batman Returns is a great Tim Burton Batman film. Batman Forever and Batman and Robin .

Omnimover- I loved the Watchmen trailer! Can't wait for this. I'm going to read the trade again soon to refresh my memory. Did you hear what they are doing with the Black Freighter parts from the comic?

If you like Brian K. Vaughn's work, have you read The Pride of Baghdad?

Every issue of Y:The Last Man is better than the last, what an incredible book!

OK, comic day was yesterday, I got from my local shop:

new issue of Green Lantern Corps
new issue of Star Wars Legacy
new issue of Batman (written by Steve Niles and art by Kelley Jones)
a book on the history of the Flash (The Flash Companion it's called. Hoping they do a Green Lantern one)
and a trade of the Batman stories Tim Sale illustrated (though not the Loeb stories, these are by other writers he worked with).

I then had to order a few things from midtowncomics.com since my store didn't have the following:

Nocturnals one shot
Usagi Yojimbo #113
Screamland #5
CBLDF special (comic book legal defense fund)

I am not thinking of checking myself into comic book rehab because I really think I have a bad comic book habit.

I read the first issue of Preacher the other day. Think I'll start into Until the End of the World

Still working my way through Essential X-Men

Finished Sandman Preludes and Nocturnes

I was reading another thread and someone mentioned The Long Halloween. I think I might want to pick that up. I always breeze over it at Borders but I have yet to buy it.

What did you think of Sandman Preludes and Nocturnes? I absolutely loved the first issue, I thought it was one of the best comics I have ever read, but the rest of the issues in that book, one by one, excited me less and less. Not sure if I will read more.

Have you ever read Y: The Last Man?

Long Halloween is great, give it a shot. If you enjoy it then read the follow up Dark Victory.

Okay, I have been reading Batman/Detective and other Bat titles for about 25years, so I cleary am biased and have an axe to grind with this. I have seen some pretty silly things in that time (ie Knightfall), but the latest is just flat out stupid.

Just as The Dark Knight is tearing it up at the movie theaters, Grant Morrison (the current Batman writer) is about to screw it all up.

Grant Morrison -
‘I’m doing a story right now called Batman RIP, which is going to end next year with Bruce Wayne no longer as Batman. Bruce Wayne will still be Bruce Wayne, but there will be different people in the Batman and Robin suits. It’s my attempt to do a comic for the psychedelic dark kids that are appearing – it’s going to have a David Lynch-style darkness. Visually, we’re moving away from the shadows and instead silhouetting Batman against neon, so there will be lots more colour and lots more nasty surrealism.’

:brick::brick::rolleyes::brick::shrug::brick: :rolleyes: :brick::brick:

We are three issues into the RIP storyline, and if what he said above is true, that has got to be the biggest bonehead move ever. Why DC is letting that hack Morrison screw up their cash cow is beyond me. Last time Bruce Wayne wasn't Batman (in Kightfall) the number of readers hit an all-time low.

Now that the movie is big, new readers will pick up the Bat titles only to find they are in some drug-induced, neon-colored garbage bin where Bruce Wayne isn't even around.

Yeah, DC...good luck with that!!:hammer:

I haven't read Batman RIP but from friends I am hearing it is awful. I try to keep in mind that DC won't let this happen forever and before we know it Bruce Wayne will be Batman once more.

But yeah, I totally agree with you, Timmay, this is a stupod move. The neon talk thing reminds me of Batman Forever and Batman and Robin.

It's that time of the week again! Yes, NEW COMIC DAY! Yay! :sohappy::lol::ROFLOL:

Hoping to keep it a light week this week. Plan on getting the new issue of Wizard magazine, Previews and the new Green Lantern comic. Keep it under $20 and that will make the wallet happy.

I'll let you know.

I'm a big ol' dorky comic book fan. I mostly stick to the Batman family of comics but occasionally I'll stray into Justice League territory or even off into Captain America if I'm in a Marvel mood.

Though recently I've given up a lot of my subscriptions because most of my favorite titles have gone off on "epically pointless crossovers" to much lately for me to keep up. :hammer:

I picked up the new Wizard too. Interesting stuff about the Wolverine movie.

BTW, in Trinity...SOMEONE STOLE THE JOKER'S LAUGH! :lookaroun

I'm a big fan of the covers for Trinity...every 3rd issue completes a mural when placed side by side.
