Coffee at the resorts?

Hello there,

I haven't been to WDW in many years but have found myself going down there soon. I seem to remember that the coffee was of some concern there, from a box, maybe? I think it was Nescafé? What's the coffee situation down there now? Should I bring my own French press?

I think Joffrey's is passable and served as the main coffee in different guises at Disney operated Quick Service and Table Service locations - it's certainly not as bad as it used to be with Nescafé! I think most resorts offer espresso based beverages from a machine now, and each of the parks has a full service Starbucks location (i.e. barista made) if you enjoy their coffee. I know it can be a controversial choice for coffee connoisseurs! There are also 2 Starbucks locations in Disney Springs.

Also, moderate resorts and above include coffee machines in all rooms. These vary from single serve Cuisinart machines to Keurig in some higher end/club level offerings. These all tend to have Joffrey's pods/cups, too.

Kind of funny that they have Keurig at the deluxe resorts. You'd think they'd at least have Nespresso. I'll probably bring my own. I'm staying at the Grand Floridian Club Level so maybe the lounge will have something passable.

Pretty sure the DVC wing of GF has a Nepresso machine in the lobby. My wife was in java heaven.

For me it will be a travel kettle, a small French press, and a bag of Columbian or an Italian roast. I've never been a fan of the single pod machines. Too much packaging and I wonder how well they're cleaned. (The bigger machine at work goes through a regular cleaning cycle with cleaning fluid periodically.)

As an aside, a previous colleague drank espresso throughout the day. At one break in a meeting I found him staring intently at his coffee. "Taste this!" he asked me. "Does this taste a little off to you?" I got it within three inches of my nose before it was clear to me he'd made his coffee while the machine was in it's cleaning cycle and it was still full of cleaning fluid! He was a a die-hard chilli-eater. Raw chilli peppers sprinkled on everything. The hotter the better. He had destroyed his taste buds to such an extent he couldn't even tell it was cleaning fluid he was drinking! To each their own I guess.......

The horror that is Joffreys is over exaggerated in my opinion. I had much rather have Joffreys than SB any day. Tastes differ from person to person. The I’m room coffee suffers from the water in the resort rooms. It sounds like you the OP take your coffee seriously so I recommend bringing your French press and not using water from the tap while in Orlando. I drink just about anything with coffee in the title but my partner is a coffee snob and a bad cup in the morning is not a pleasant site to behold.

So many people make the mistake of using tap water to make coffee.. and then complain about the taste.
Any coffee person should know NOT to use tap.

(Starbucks is better than Joffrey’s though :) )

The coffee is Joffreys, and it tastes like it was brewed out of a cow's rear end.

BAHAHAHA! YES! Glad some folks agree with me. There was another thread in here where people were singing the praises of this Joffrey's stuff. Ugh. It is THE WORST. And you don't waste your time trying to doctor it up with loads of cream and splenda/sugar in hopes of transforming it into even a borderline acceptable cup off coffee. Doesn't work, I tried.
