Coffee at the resorts?

I agree with you that both coffee and tea taste worse when not made properly, I just don’t think any standard drip coffee tastes great.. definitely not worse than any Keurig or Verismo.

Can it be my turn to laugh after saying "you must not know good coffee or tea then?" ;) Really to each their own, but those who go for a specific taste won't appreciate their own in a quick brew. Since I drink for taste, and not caffeine any longer (I really try to avoid it in larger doses including no longer drinking soda) I might be picky compared to an average drinker.

Tea I am super picky about and no way is a quick drip as good as the real brewed. Not even close. It tastes like dirty water to me

You’ve been talking about a drip coffee machine, right? One that makes multi cups using ground coffee.
Yeah, no, sorry.. taste buds definitely vary.. but I can’t bring myself to say that is great coffee. In both scenarios- Disney’s current coffee makers, or a Keurig at Disney, you are using pre packaged ground beans.

Of course tastes vary, I just wanted to point out the similarities between the two.. it’s strange to read the Keurig hate when people are comparing to standard drip machines.lol

Tea is a whole other thing, since Teavana’s closing I’ve stopped drinking as much.. but I was very picky about my tea leaves and proper preparation as well. I love coffee, I love tea.. I don’t expect Disney rooms to give all of the equipment to make a fantastic cup of either one.

Yes, regular coffee machine, though at home many use better ones too to get a better flavor. My family just as a whole prefers very strong, very flavorful coffees (not flavored funny, but full of flavor) and that requires a slower brew. Really though any machine that that takes more than seconds to brew is better. The coffee just always tasted watered down and bland to me. Then again I don't like Starbucks either because they nearly always over roast their coffee and it has a very burnt taste.

Don't get me started on Teavana either, but considering it was bought up by Starbucks that probably sums up why I wasn't a fan ;) Really better options out there locally and even on the web in general.

I don't expect Disney to give full service either. I just don't think single cup servings fit as well in a 2 bedroom villa. We like to brew the coffee and share while sitting and drinking together in the morning.

Teavana existed for many years before the Starbucks acquisition.. I hope people didn’t skip a visit due to a distaste for Starbucks coffee.. the only change was that you could earn stars at both.. tea leaves and accessories remained the same. Beyond the stars, I never noticed a difference from the before or after.

I miss that store so much. I love sampling teas and smelling them before I purchase. This is one more reason that I’m scared of brick & mortar closings.. but that’s another subject. :(

I know they did, and I cannot recall when my side opened to try. Just joking that only Starbucks would want meh teas though thru certainly ran it into the ground. Not sure if it was writing on the wall from before the deal or not though. Never did like them from when I tried them. I eventually tossed the tea that was given to me as gifts too. I tried it many times but it was lacking. I started walking on the other side of the walkway to avoid the pushy taste testers after a while. I don't have a disdain for Starbucks, I just go elsewhere for better taste.

They were not well loved among my friends though. Most thought it was far over priced for the quality you got. I think that had far more to do with it then anything else

If it's the Cuisinart pod one, just pull the little pod holder out and wash it off. Same with the small coffee makers. In the DVC rooms with a kitchen, housekeeping puts the glass carafe and coffee basket in the dishwasher.

Keurig makes cleansing pods - I use one once a week in mine. You can also run a cup of white vinegar diluted with a cup of water through the machine - just make sure to brew several cups of water afterwards. And Keurigs recommends using bottled or filtered water. I don't make coffee or tea with tap water - chlorine affects the taste.
Thanks. I am fine with Joffrey. I clean my Keurig at home. I'm not going to stay at a Disney Deluxe resort and start washing their in room coffee machines. Vacation.

I, um, fill the dishwasher with all the plates, glasses and eating utensils when I first arrive and run it on the sanitizer cycle. I've pulled some pretty dirty glasses, plates and silverware out of the cabinets and drawers. Not everyone cleans well. 😊

You vacation differently than I do. While I stay frequently enough lately at deluxe resorts I am not a DVC owner nor do I reserve rooms with kitchens so they don't have dishwashers.
While you might start your vacation out by filling the dishwasher I'm generally off to a park, we eat out 3 meals a day. Most that is in the mini fridge is coke, wine or water bottles.
That is my style of vacationing and getting away from the loading of dishwashers etc. We also accept housekeeping, I enjoy that aspect of a vacation.

I arrive in the late afternoon, so I don't visit a park until the following day. While I'm running the dishwasher, I take a quick trip to Publix for some grocery shopping. I guess you could say I take "Welcome Home!" literally. :joyfull:

I do let Housekeeping do their thing every 4 days.

See we all have our different things that make us happy on our vacations. I know many enjoy getting the resort room in order, grocery shopping etc. It is all in what makes us happy in WDW.

You can likely understand why I am not cleaning a coffee pot in a Disney Room before I use it or anything else in a Disney Resort and just drink the Joffery. I do all that stuff in my real life and while on vacation it just isn't 'my thing. I happily let Disney Housekeeping our resort room Daily. We are AP holders so even if we only hit the parks for a few hours on the day of arrival we are off to the parks. Just our style.

I think water is the most important thing, next to grinding your own beans fresh right before brewing, for a good cup! I can make do with pre-ground coffee on vacation so we don't have to pack the whole grinder. But can't even think about using that swamp water in Orlando :depressed:

Yup...
Orlando water is nasty.
We always have a couple cases of bottled water delivered to our room the day we arrive.
We use it for coffee and to make hydration drinks for the day.

Going to Boardwalk in SEptember. Can someone confirm if they have coffee machine in room and if so, what type? I will bring my own pods for a good morning coffee and not have to leave room to get it.

Slightly off topic as I don't like coffee at all so I don't have much of a dog in this hunt. But I bought my wife these reusable k cup thingamabobbers. She gets to use the coffee she wants versus hoping she can find a coffee she likes in a pre-packed cup, and if everyone were to try to use them or comparable doodads it would cut back on a heck of a lot of waste.

Just came back from stay at Boardwalk Villas and those rooms had regular coffee maker not K-cup. I do not know about the regular rooms however.

I will say though, I've had worse tasting coffee than Starbucks, Joeffry's, and gas stations combined. Unfortunately, it's my work coffee. I can't drink it. I have to bring my own coffee from home. It's the worst.
