Coffee at the resorts?

I'm sure most Keurigs owners have a My K cup or two, like me, to brew their own coffee.

I think you missed my point. We don't own Keurigs or whatever at home. So no K cup. In a room that holds 9 or so, doing single serve coffee would be kind of annoying. So we don't own the K cup things and I'd be annoyed if we had to buy something special just for a trip to Disney. Many I've read about in DVC groups feel the same. Those who want single serve seem to get owner's lockers so they can have it. I personally think Keurigs are kind of vile so glad we have other options.

Like most DVC rooms, Copper Creek has that 12 cup coffee maker. Was hoping they'd put Keurigs in so I could stop bringing mine. Uni top tier resorts have had Keurigs in their rooms for years.

I'm confused. You bring your own coffee in K cups but you bring a Kuerig? Why not just bring the coffee and do it in a regular pot?

Many on other forums seem to think single serve coffee makers aren't great. They aren't as convenient for those who want a pot of coffee.

Well, I drink only tea and my SIL only coffee, so the Keurig is the perfect solution for us.

I don’t understand all of the Keurig hate.. I have a Keurig at my office, and a Verismo at home (along with another bad azz make any kind of coffee/foam etc coffee/espresso maker)...

Both the Keurig and the Verismo take regular coffee grounds... being a single cup doesn’t make it taste any different than a single cup out of my super expensive coffee machine, or a pot of coffee from that machine, or any other machine. It’s just a single serving.😂

Eh we only have one or two coffee drinkers in our room and we still use a pot. It's really much better quality and I hope as a DVC owner that they never bring those things into the rooms to use. Doesn't make sense for most of the rooms to have it. Or just get an owner's locker and put it in there so you don't have to travel with it?

I don't agree that it tastes the same though. I stopped drinking coffee but it never tasted the same to me when I did drink it.

It’s literally the exact same coffee as any other type of ground coffee. I have reusable cups as well, I can grind whole bean coffee and put it in the Verismo or Keurig.. I don’t do that too often, because at that point I’d just use the machine.. but it’s the same coffee in both.

i was kind of hoping that POFQ would get a keurig in their rooms since CS has them in theirs. considering they’re both moderate resorts. oh well...

I'm a total coffee snob. I have an expensive espresso machine and even more expensive grinder, and only draw shots with fresh roasted coffee. That said, when I'm on vacation at Disney, I happily drink whatever octane is made available to me in the room to begin another great day.

My coffee drinking SIL says there's no difference between coffee brewed via his Keurig at work and his traditional coffee maker at home. He has a My K Cup and used his own ground coffee in his Keurig. I think you'll find many people like their Keurigs, because it offers variety. I love their Hot Apple Cider.

That would depend on how one makes coffee at home. ;)
In our house we drink COFFEE.
Minimum, 2.5 TBS of freshly ground coffee per 6 oz cup.
Our Daughter likes hers noticeably stronger so she uses 1/3 less water.

Does the spoon stand up in her cup?

While I chose to cut that level of caffeine in my life, I have tried both. The water is not hot enough and it brews way too fast. I also find their teas to be awful. Again to slow on the brew vs steeping properly. Plus they are stupidly wasteful.

It may be the same coffee but as I said it isn't brewed the same.

That article is basically complaining about packaged ground coffee. Which I agree with, in any machine.. not just K Cups.. whole beans will always be the best. Most coffee makers, besides the super expensive ones like I previously mentioned, do not use whole bean.. or more accurately- a large amount of people don’t grind their coffee themselves. I do quite regularly, but admitebly- not daily.

KCup isn’t one brand. There’s many different brands that make coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.
I’m partial to the Starbucks KCups, and especially the reusable cups where I can add whatever flavor from my Starbucks bags. Ground coffee will never stay as fresh, I keep mine in the freezer to prolong it, but it’s still not the same.. I just deal with it because some mornings or evenings I’m too lazy to grind.. and I don’t bring a coffee grinder to work.

I’m a coffee addict, and I agree with the author of that article on ground vs whole... but the pods aren’t what makes the difference... not when compared to a mass market traditional drip machine. I have a Keurig at my office because it a million times better than our office coffee.. because I can choose the blend.

It talked aout the 2 issues with the brewing itself too. Which is why I said to scroll.

It has some to do with the taste of the brands of the cups itself, but even the temp and brew time do not give quality drink. 4 and 5 on the list.

what the author talked about for coffee brewing is the same for tea too. You well never get as good of quality with a quick brew. I'm not a tea addict, but one who appreciates taste. Too quick or too cold equals flat taste.

I agree with you that both coffee and tea taste worse when not made properly, I just don’t think any standard drip coffee tastes great.. definitely not worse than any Keurig or Verismo.

True.......
We drink two pots a day and I grind ours just seconds before brewing a pot.
Which likely explains why I don't like the K cup stuff.
I'm spoiled.........

I have an amazing DeLonghi.. I use that when I want great tasting coffee.. but people here are comparing the old Disney machines, standard drip.. to a Keurig. I’d choose the Keurig in that scenario. I don’t expect Disney to furnish their hotels with DeLonghi systems in every room.

Agree.. however, I will drink coffee from a pot, at a hotel, at any place that supplies me with caffeine. I love great coffee, but I love caffeine even more. When at GF last year, I woke up without coffee in the room.. my routine was to drink a cup or two in room, and then buy one at the lobby cart.. it was a rough walk to the cart that morning. ;)

Anyway..I gave up Starbucks (visits) for Lent, which is a huge sacrifice bc I usually visit everyday, most days twice. Tomorrow I make my return. Can’t wait!!!
