Thanks, Space for jogging me with an @ symbol. I've been reading though the last few pages. I'd like to see It's a Small World re-imagined. I'm not keen on putting it in Epcot/World Showcase, although I understand why World Showcase is a "go to" idea. But Epcot doesn't need another slow moving boat ride. Trying to think outside the box. Would there be a way to incorporate the Small World theme as you take the monorail from TTC to Epcot? Do we need to keep the iconic music? Or could "that song" be just a part of a larger symphony of songs that address the theme of a small and diverse world? IF it were along the monorail to Epcot, it would be exposed rather than enclosed... figures could be larger... there could be a whole different feel at night with lighting, etc. Vignettes could be backed by LED projection screens giving a richer portrayal. Am I crazy? Does this spur anyone else's "out of the box" thinking?

I honestly think it's a sin to cut Pooh. It fits way more than Treasure Planet and Atlantis, which I think should still be let but fit Tomorrowland WAY more.
Pooh I was thinking could go in a Critter Country type land if we continue to expand the park! But if we want to include it in Fantasyland I have no problem with that either -- though I didn't know where to fit it in the mini-lands:)

This is a really neat out of the box idea -- I like this thinking!:D

And no problem! Glad you're here!

We are designing a whole new park complex, so this would go not necessarily in just a clone of EPCOT.

As to the symphony. Should we reuse this ride, I like the idea of keeping the basic melody. But what if we spced it up a bit. Like when we go through the African part its played on bongos. Germany can have a full on orchestra. Mexico can give it a Laton feel. Amerca a jazz. etc.

I agree with the whole bigger is better

I like this idea. I also think that there have been other songs that echo the larger IASW theme... like "We Are The World." I'm sure there are others. When Small World first appeared - 53 years ago - the theme of It's a Small World was just beginning to be felt. We are there and beyond, with instant communications around the world. I know that the idea of introducing IP into any attraction can be controversial, but over the past 53 years Disney has produced countless films that help celebrate the various continents of the world, and those characters could be incorporated.

Again thinking along the monorail... in the same way that guests receive 3-D glasses for 3-D movies, people could be issued head phones that would give them a narration and singing in a variety of languages. In my view the "attraction" wouldn't have to be continuously along the monorail tracks, but the narration, score, etc. could be continuous. What is that monorail ride... about 6 minutes?

I guess since Mr. Toad is in that area it would fit with him being another "animal" character.

On the other side of that -- it does feel like we have a lot of attractions in the English sub-land.
That's the only reason why I thought Toad and Pooh could go into Critter Country, the English sub-land is going to take a massive portion of Fantasyland otherwise.

I think we are too focused on grouping the IPs by country of origin rather than setting. Eventually we'll get to a point where we are just recreating current Fantasyland. We want the ride buildings and surroundings to invoke the feeling of being inside the movie!
Could we maybe scrap the mini-lands for now and just focus on building C/D/E ticket attractions?

I think the rush to group IPs based on country of origin is due to the mini-land setup of the land itself:bookworm:

Now I'm really confused. o_O  I thought that was what we were doing with these mini lands, otherwise why even have mini lands at all? We would just create a hodge podge of different rides and make the surrounding area feel similar to the ride. Sorry, like I said, I guess I'm confused.

Me too o_O. Oh well, let's just do the rides like Space said.

The mini-lands was your initial idea right?

I don't want to just scrap it -- to be honest I actually liked where we were going (as the current Fantasyland has attractions all over the place)

We just need to talk and discuss what the best route is to take -- the good news is -- we are in no rush! We can discuss until we are comfortable.:)
