I'm curious to hear what @Imagineerland thinks. He has a strong realistic approach to this (and this peoplemover concept began with one of his ideas I think):bookworm:

I am a little concerned about the suspended dumbo idea because I think it wouldn't be as elegant as some of you image it to be. The necessary towers and cables would stand out in a otherwise detailed in theme land, and to get capacity worth something, it would have to be just a solid line of dumbos crisscrossing the paths. Skyway's can turn, but each turn requires another tower, so thats even more clutter. I wouldn't do it, but it can be up to public opinion. The reason for my train suggestion is that there is no need to explain away or hide the track and supports. Its already in theme and believable.

Yeah I'm going to need to depend on summaries. I'll respond to the summary or if someone tags me with an idea or question.

No worries -- I'll be sure to tag you in the summaries. :)

Exactly my concern.

Okay then, I would like to restate my vote to not have an IP peoplemover or get rid of the idea all togetther.

The only issue with that is that Fantasyland is pretty much an IP based land. If you think about it, not one attraction is not an IP. Even Small World is an IP now.
Ours can be something different though!:)

In a way -- I see it similar to the Storybook Canals, where there is no theme to the boat -- it's what's around it that's the IP.

If the "peoplemover" runs through the different environments it could maybe have some sort of cloaking tech that could mold it in with the respective IPs so it fits into all of them

^ and even if it doesn't, having no theme with it won't disparate the surrounding themes...it could just naturally flow through like the canal boats.

Ohhhhhhhhh, you mean generic. That could work.

Yes
Physics question if you can @Pionmycake :p:D
A skyride where you control the height? It could be done. Not neccessarily practically budget wise, but it could definitely be done.

The up and down would have to move slowly for it to be stable and still low weight.

If you wanted a true dumbo/skyride experience, I would suggest a more solid, Peter Pan style track so you could have some actuall machinery attached to. Or maybe a vertical track (like alongside walls) with Dumbo arms sticking out

Nowadays it is. They have a movie coming out, they had a children's cartoon, tons of merchandising, and many theme park attractions. But back in '64 I guess not.
Agree to disagree I guess. :)I don't think of Jungle Cruise as an IP. Anything that is not based off a movie that Disney had a hand in, doesn't seem like it would be an IP. Again, like the ticket system, everyone has their own definitions. :geek:

I lean towards making it non IP. Trains and boats are the most obvious choices as they have a basis in reality in those time periods and locations. Boats obviously don't lend themselves to changing elevation (though that would be interesting to have an elevated boat I'll give you that).

The only other transportation devices I can think of from the time are horse and carriage or maybe a trolley. But I don't think either of those are that conducive.

Of course we could just call it an "invention" and create our own transportation device.

We know that we like the idea of some sort of attraction weaving through the land for kinetics - and we know we want it to fit.

Any other real world conveyances we might take inspiration from? Preferably something that has aspirational appeal.
