Cinderella Castle: Disneyland 50 Anniversary Modifications - New Concept Art!

quick setup, no scaffolding (hopefully)

I am not sure how they will put the decorations on the castle. They seem fairly simple (not like transforming it into a cake) so they may be able to do it quickly, then again it is Disney so you never know. I know Stitch's castle was very temporary and simple, it went up overnight, literally. Also, in 2002 they used a crane to paint the rooves of the castle without putting up any scaffolding. I bet they can do the same type of setup and put everything up in about a week or less with little effect on the guests. Since the celebration starts on May 5, I bet it goes up early to mid April. We'll see.

This explains why we raised the price isn't it.... hopefully they remember... this must come down..... (and not to pull a pepto-bismal castle cake again.....) doesn't look bad...

Now, How Is This Going To Look From The Wedding Pavilion? :lookaroun
I doubt you'll be able to tell much difference, the only somewhat obtrusive thing is the "stained glass window." Personally, I think it looks rather dignified, at least it doesn't look like it could solve all your stomach problems this time around. Does anyone know whether Tokyo's castle will be getting a similar/identical treatment? And what about Paris?

It looks pretty nice to me, I kind of like the gold characters... It adds a nice little touch that they are all gold.

I wonder how long this will take to put up... hmm... When should it be ready? By the spring, I suppose, right? Isn't that about the time when the celebration begins?

I really, really like it.

Reminds me of the relatively older introductions to Wonderful World of Disney.

Hopefully this and the gamut of new rides will be enough to get another trip back to Disney!

I think the castle rocks, now I only wish that my every four year disney trip was next year instead of this year :( but I think it will look awesome, and total disney, and i do like it better than DL's.

Eh... I dunno. It looks sort of tacky, but I'm sure it will grow on me as everything else has. When I was 12, though, that castle cake was AWESOME! :hurl:

Oh biting sarcasm, how you mock me. I'm never going to get that monstrosity out of my head. Or the wand. Or the hat. At least Disneyland's Castle isn't going to be as bad as those three, no matter how much people complain!

At least the MK Castle decoration looks respectable, as it should. I doubt it would get a negative response, and at least it celebrates Disney's ingenuity in animation rather than exploiting it for a profit. (Hat, Big Freaking Pink Cake)

P.S. Does anybody know if Cinderella's Royal Table Resaurant will get any sort of renovation to speak of? After all, it is the greatest Disney restaurant that is named after a piece of furniture.

Have you SEEN the paint job they've already given it? I'll admit the cake castle was far worse, but the new paint job is over the top already, and they won't even be adding the really tacky stuff (eg the crowns) til after the new year. Gimme a wand or a hat anyday!

I love the new design for the castle... As long as it isn't permanant, of course!

Like someone already said.. The only really bad thing is the stained glass window...

I just hope they don't make it tacky :)

I'm pleasantly relieved to see this great, TASTEFUL concept art. I was concerned of a repeat of the Pepto-Bismol cake debacle, or yet another one of Mickey's body parts in a place it shouldn't be. My next trip to WDW is in May, and since I'll be bringing family members that have never visited the World before, I'm glad they'll be able to still enjoy Cinderella Castle.

I just wish I knew for a fact that the ridiculous Arm/Wand and sparkles would be off of the Epcot geosphere by next May. Next to the Pepto-cake, that structure has got to be one of the tackiest things Disney has ever put in one of their parks. (Can I hear somebody say "cardboard cutout"? Can I get an "Amen"?)

Anyway, I don't think the LCD screen ("stained-glass window") is too obtrusive; at least we can still see the castle! And I love having Peter Pan soaring around the top of the castle, as well as the various well-loved characters tastefully accenting (not dominating) areas of the castle--this castle makeover represents classic Disney magic again, as opposed to the cheap-looking eyesore tacked onto Spaceship Earth. (By "classic Disney," I mean something that celebrates the company's rich heritage, as opposed to something that is an obvious attempt at over-marketing and making money.)

My only question is that since this is Disneyland's 50th, why are the world's various castles being shown at WDW? Why not on the back of Sleeping Beauty castle at DL?

Amen brother! And you raise an interesting question. I wonder if DL will incorporate the worldwide castles in some other way.

Hey, my 1,000th post! :sohappy: :sohappy:
