Thanks for the "Amen," and congrats on your 1,000 post! I'm nowhere near your number...maybe I should have started posting a long time ago, when I simply came to this site and read things...

But I really am wondering about the castle situation. Surely, DL will display pics, models, or something about the other castles.

Eh, post counts really don't matter that much. :) It's what you post, not how often you post it.

Yeah, they'll probably put some models of the other castles in an exhibit somewhere in DL. I'd love to see models of them in gold--especially the Paris castle.

Well, considering the budget cuts that DL's 50th commemorative exhibit has suffered over the last year or so, I wouldn't be too surprised if nothing about the other castles shows up. :(

Don't know if DL will display anything about the other castles. The focus will, rightfully so, be on DL, its conception and development and growth over the past 50 years. I'm sure there will be some mention on how it inspired 4 other Disney resorts worldwide (Paris, Tokyo, Florida, and soon Hong Kong), but I imagine there will not be a lot of attention given to it.

As you probably already know, in "honor" of DL's 50th, WDW is "celebrating" by offering a taste of the other Disney resorts worldwide with attractions imported from them. Soarin' from DL resort, Cinderellabration show from Tokyo, Motor Stunt show from the Paris resort, and Expedition Everest is unique to Florida. The whole changing castle stainglass window (which hopefully will be pretty neat looking) just helps tie in that whole idea of representing what the parks worldwide have to offer a little better.

Are you sure that is not one of the cows from Home on the Range standing next to Pumba?
I have absolutely no idea if it's Simba or a Home on the Range cow (it'd better not be the latter).

I doubt you'll be able to tell much difference, the only somewhat obtrusive thing is the "stained glass window." Personally, I think it looks rather dignified, at least it doesn't look like it could solve all your stomach problems this time around. Does anyone know whether Tokyo's castle will be getting a similar/identical treatment? And what about Paris?

If this quote refers to the Orlando Castle, The stained glass window is not a window at all nor is it Lcd. It is a jumbotron.

It looks pretty nice to me, I kind of like the gold characters... It adds a nice little touch that they are all gold.

I wonder how long this will take to put up... hmm... When should it be ready? By the spring, I suppose, right? Isn't that about the time when the celebration begins?

I am not completely sure of this but I beleive work starts sometime in January. The engineering portion of the work started about 2 months ago or so. The strucutral engineers had to go inside the castle into every nook and crannie to figure out how best to attach everything to the super-structure underneath the castle skin. The inside of the castle apparently is quite a maze of small doors, ladders, stairs and elevators (not just the ones everyone knows about either).

To the best of my knowledge all of the figures are static. The only motion will be whatever appears on the jumbotron.

I figured as much, that's why I put "stained glass window" in quotes. I was expecting it to be LCD, though. How's the resolution going to be with just a regular jumbotron? Also, I like that the figures are static. Having them animated would make it too busy.

I would hope but I dont now for sure who they are buying the screen from that it is reasonably high resolution. We have a Portable LED wall at work that from a about 50 to 75 feet looks like an LCD Screen in quality. The company that makes that system also has one that is even better resolution. I doubt seariulsy that it will be a sony jumbotron. Checkout www.barco.com for product examples.

P.S. Does anybody know if Cinderella's Royal Table Resaurant will get any sort of renovation to speak of? After all, it is the greatest Disney restaurant that is named after a piece of furniture.
When we were booking breakfast for Feb. they told us that CRT is going to be closed until the end of Jan. I don't know if this is still true, or maybe I got the resturants mixed up, but i'm pretty sure it's CRT.
Also, I don't know if that is because they are refurbing the resturant or doing work on the outside of the castle where people would see it

Oh yeah, I like the gold accents but I dont' know about all of the characters.

Shouldn't they just do cinderella characters, or just mickey and minnie.

I like it how it is/will be. Having just Cinderella, Mickey, and Minnie wouldn't really represent all of Disney, which is what it sorta looks like. I think it looks very elegant and that it will look even better when complete. But, what do I know? I liked the castle cake too. (At the time I was like 13 and thought it looked cool. Plus, it was just temporary so I knew the "real" castle would be back the next year.)

Yeah, I meant "LED," not "LCD." Typo on my part.

I, too, wonder whether or not it will be a Jumbotron; those things are fairly large. Yet I'm assuming that Disney will have some sort of fade effect in between each of the castles, rather than a straight-forward LED wipeover; and if that is the case, the screen might just a Jumbotron (LCDs are bright, but not bright enough).
