Well when I was on Expedia last week I was going to choose I think a departure through NW and a return through Delta. It was 225 per person. That was much cheaper then I had seen thus far. I did not see any AirTran at that time.
I just checked expedia today and AirTran was all over, so I am guessing they just added flights. On Expedia for the four of us it was 194 a person. I thought that is much better.
So I went on AirTran's site and checked the same exact flight from expedia and it was 189 per person. Even better. Now I am wondering if I should wait a while and see if it goes down more.
Also one more question. On airtrans site to get the cheapest flight there was discount coach or regular coach. I chose discount coach. Now I am trying to figure out exactly the difference. Am I not going to get to sit with my family do you think?

Sorry for all the questions.

Was there a price difference between the regular coach and discount coach? If not, was one non-stop and the other not? Lastly, sometimes the different prices have different "fare rules". We've flown SW the last 2 times we went to Disney, and I always choose the cheapest available flight. On there website I think it says something like, "web special". But then I read the rules of the fare. I could pay a lot more and be able to get my money refunded, for example. So if I knew I might have to cancel my trip and wanted to be able to get my money back, I might pay more to be able to do that. I think 189 is a really good price. The reason expedia was a bit higher is b/c they charge a $5 fee per ticket. Does that help?

This is what it said. What does this mean?

Advance seat assignment is available for a small fee, or you may select your seats upon check-in at no cost.

It means that if you want to choose your seat when you buy your ticket, you can, for a fee. Or if you don't want to pay, you can choose your seat when you check in at the airport. The pro to choosing it now would be you're guaranteed to all sit together. How much is the "small fee"?

Katy - it looks like the difference between regular coach and discount coach is just how far ahead of time you book it. y mom used to fly AirTran to providence a lot, but now they only come in to Boston, so she flies SW.

Well, it appears everyone has disappeared. :( But, I need some advice. We enjoyed going to WDW at Christmas so much that we're going to go again this year. I have already booked 10 nights at the Poly. I booked garden view. However, as you guys know we were upgraded to MK view this past trip. I really got spoiled having the MK view and I want to change our reservation to MK view for this year. The price difference is over $1600. *gulp* DH says, "whatever you want", which is code for "I don't think it's worth it for that much more money, but if you do, fine" I have to call today to put down our $200 deposit, so if I change it, I want to do it today. What do you think? I also got a pretty good ( and unexpected) raise at work last week.....

I say hope for the upgrade again and don't pay that extra price. But then I don't know what I would do in your place either. I want certain things but I really don't want to pay the price.

Oh sweetie, GRAB IT! If your raise is allocated for vacation funds, there shouldn't be any guilt involved. I know I want to stay at the Poly when we go back in 2011...Abby will have finished 8th grade AND it's our 20th wedding anniversary that year. And I know I only want a view of the MK. :D

Yeah, I agree w/you, Susan. If we had never gotten the upgrade in the first place, I wouldn't know what we were missing. That is a lot of money for a view, and like DH says, how much are we in the room, anyway?

Is it worth that much to you? Frankly, we don't spend that much on a whole vacation, but that's just us. If it's really worth it to you, and doesn't cause you financial hardship, then go for it.

...and while you're at it, could you pay for DS' college tuition next semester?

And.... I agree with you, too! Hence, my dilemma. :hammer: :hammer:

Wow, 20th anniversary! That definitely deserves an MK view!! :sohappy:

We stayed in the Comtemp. in 2005 We had garden view but was upgraded to tower. We didn't get MK view but the view that we did have was wonderful. It was a dream come true for me. All other times I have stayed off site. I don't want to ever do that again.

I don't mean to give the impression that we're wealthy; cause we're not. But I'm married to a financial planner, so we have savings and we "live within our means" He would have a coronary if we didn't.

I guess I'm in the minority here :o....it's just that I know after this year's trip, we will only be able to afford maybe one or two more trips to the Mouse before Abby finishes high school. So if it's in your budget, that's great. If it will cause you to eat PBJ and Kraft dinner 24/7, ummm, probably not.

I didn't mean to be sarcastic there - we're just feeling the major pinch of college educations, so i work on a very limited budget now.

If you can do it, and it's really what you want, then by all means, go for it!

No, no, not at all. In fact, I hesitated to post my question b/c I was afraid I would come off as a snot. I mean, what a problem to have, right?? But I was counting on you guys' advice so I hope you all don't think badly of me for asking.

I can only imagine the stress of college bills. When I think of what tuition will cost when my go.... *shudders*

That's when I'll be glad I married a finance guy!

Sorry I disappeared.
There was a huge difference in price in regular coach and discount coach. Regular coach was like $300 one way. The departure and return were both nonstop and at discount coach it was $84.00 per way. With all the taxes I got the 189 dollar per person price.
I do not know the fee yet for getting seat arrangements ahead of time.
So basically this type of flight is one that does not give you certain seats? Which is why it is cheaper?

I can't decide if I want to pay more to get seats together or not.

I wouldn't worry about it. We are made up of all kinds of folks here. We also skrimp and save but when I go to WDW I splruge big time and pay for it for yrs to come. I know it is wrong but that is also why I don't get to go very often.

We thought we'd be fine with it, but tuitions now are just so obscene. A lot of schools now have switched their loans to grants because kids are coming out with such huge bills. I'm hoping DS' school follows suit toon.
