Are you wanting one that plays on your TV? Or just so that you have the files?

Just to have the files. I was buying some CD-RW's at Staples, and the guy helping me said that they weren't really meant for long term backup of pictures. He said DVD's were a lot better, b/c they could hold a ton more data and also they were permanent, unlike the CD's. But, our old (now dead) computer couldn't burn DVD's, but our new one can. I have some CD's that are 4 years old from when my daughter was a baby on CD, and now I'm petrified that they're gone.... :(

Alrighty damas (y caballero),

I need to go for a bit.
Heading to the bank to deposit a belated-Christmas present, and then onward to ShopRite.
And then, when I get home, I can do even more studying!
Sounds fun, right?

Adios mis amigos.

No, you SHOULD be fine. I think it takes longer than 4 years for those files to go away. I think it takes about 10 years or so. But he was right. CDs are not meant to be permanant...and we constantly tell people who we sell CDs to to make sure to back those up.

And it's really easy. Put the CD in the computer, and you can do two things. 1. You can put it on your computer and then burn it to DVD or 2. I believe you can possibly burn it straight to DVD. Which one would you rather do?

I tried to turn our computer on yesterday, and it was dead. Apparently the hard drive crashed. (It was 4 years old). DH took it to Best Buy last night, where he bought a new one. The Geek Squad tech said they could transfer the data off of our old hard drive on to the new one. Or at least that was the plan. They just called and told DH that the hard drive was so damaged, they couldn't retrieve any of our files..... It's the pictures of the kids that we've lost that I'm most upset about.
Sorry to hear that. I lost a bunch of pictures myself so I know how you are feeling.
