The character breakfasts are a great way to start the day, but I feel like you get more for your money with the character dinners. :wave:

We did Cape May buffet for breakfast....HUGE HIT...food was great and reasonably priced for Disney. Only 3 characters but they spent a good chunk of time at the table so it was wonderful for the kids!
1900 for dinner...again good food and the kids liked the interaction with the evil step sisters. Pricey though.
We have removed Crystal Palace from our list for dinner. Expensive and we feel the food is not that good anymore. I heard breakfast is good there but we have not tried it.

We prefer dinners simply because we're not big breakfast eaters so it's not worth it for us. Some character dinners I've done are 1900 Park Fair, Crystal Palace, and Chef Mickeys-CP being my favorite.

we LOVED 1900 park fare for dinner. i don't think we've ever laughed so hard over a meal. the buffet wasn't anything spectacular but had a wide variety of offerings. this was the absolute best character meal i've been to in terms of the characters interacting with our entire group.
i always feel like the character meals seem better suited to breakfast and lunch. it feels more informal, less hurried that kind of thing. we had a good meal and a great time at the princess breakfast in norway epcot they took a lot of time for each table but had a good rotation going so you didn't really wait long for a character. i liked crt for lunch when i took my sister for her first character meal.

First off, we love them all - always hard to decide! If picking just one (breakfast or dinner, not a particular restaurant) we generally go with breakfast. BUT, we try to get the latest seating possible. We have a little snack in the early morning, then enjoy a buffet brunch that will keep us full until dinner time!

If you are on the DDP- you may want to consider dinner as it's more bang for your buck.
From a food perspective...while we've scheduled 2 character breakfasts, 2 lunch, and 1 dinner...the days we picked for breakfasts are days where we don't anticipate doing a lot of running around touring the parks after the meal. i.e. a more relaxed pace. Our kids are also young and need naps- so a heavy lunch could help nap time.

Would be helpful if we knew what characters you wanted to see first. None of the character meals are really 5 star food, so they are all really about the characters... that said some places are better at lunch than breakfast even though you get the same characters so a little more information might get you better recommendations.

Well, then its definitely between Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys. Then you need to decide if you want dinner or breakfast.
Its true, more bang for your buck will automatically go to dinners since dinners is usually more food and is better quality.
But really it all comes down to what you like more. Whether its more bang or not, if you like it then its worth it.

we find character breakfasts to be the best. Its pretty hard to screw up food at a breakfast buffet, but dinner buffets where theres meats, sauce, and other hot dishes dont tend to stay well on a line. Plus, its alot easier to mess up dinner type foods as we have found out a few times. with that said, i would head to chef mickeys, but winnie is not there. vice versa for CP, so someone has to compromise. good luck and have fun.

For Mickey you have four options. Chef Micky at the Contemporary (Breakfast and dinner), Ohana at the Polyesian (breakfast only), Garden Grill at Epcot (all meals) and Breakfastosaurus at the Animal Kingdom (breakfast only).
For Pooh you have Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom (all meals), 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian (breakfast only), and Olivia's at Old Key West (breakfast only).
I wouldn't rave about the food in any of them as being great for the price because a lot of what you are paying for is the characters.
To that end, I think I would say pick one that is in a park you are going to be in... or at the very least pick one that is easily accessable. If I were doing Mickey I would probably go with the Garden Grill because its in Epcot and you also get chip and dale, if you prefer the more classic disney character then you would need to go for Chef Mickey's at dinner (breakfast is not the best option food wise) but bewarned you will have to leave the parks and go to the Contemporary for that meal.
If you decide on Pooh then Crystal Palace for Lunch or Dinner is the best option although breakfast isn't all that bad either.
To make it easier the following is a list of character you would likely find at each place.
Crystal palace - Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger
1900 Park Fare (breakfast) - Pooh, Mad Hatter, Alice, Mary Poppins and Bert
Olivia's (breakfast) - Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger
Chef Mickey's - Mickey, Donald Duck, Goofy, Chip and Dale
Ohana - Mickey, Goof, Chip and Dale
Breakfastosaurus - Mickey, Goofy, Daisy and Pluto
Garden Grill - Mickey, Pocahontas, Chip and Dale

I'm certainly not professing to know everything about character dining, but I believe the above list has some errors. As far as I know Olivia's is no longer a character experience. I also do not think Chip and Dale appear at Chef Mickey's. Ohana is now Lilo and Stitch. I don't think Pocahontas appears at Garden Grill any more. Not sure about Pooh at 1900 PF for breakfast. And Breakfastosaurus is now at Tusker House and has a Donald photo op outside. I think the list NedFlanders was using was slightly out of date.
