I wonder if it similar to sports. Some coaches do a great job when they have their assistant coaches. The assistant coaches are promoted due to their team's success and then tank. Then, the former coach also has problems because his/her assistants are not as good as those that left.
It's probably just a case of the whole working better than the sum of its parts. You had these people bouncing ideas off of each other that created a perfect storm, then when you separate them there's no one to tell each other that certain ideas aren't too hot.
Ya know what I always wondered. When George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney, GL appointed KK to run Lucasfilm. Was he forced to do this? Did he not know how bad a direction KK was going to go in? Did KK just yes, yes GL until she had control then went her own way?
Kennedy was already in a high ranking position at Lucasfilm, Lucas picked her himself. She wasn't some outsider that Disney plopped in.

George was already taking it in that direction, she just continued what he was already doing.

I can't speak for George, but we know Disney refused to use stories he had already written at the time of the sale, so Disney did change direction.
True, they didn't use the stories and I don't blame them based on where the fans were post prequals. However, a lot of the subject matter Lucas was interested in and was starting to appear in places like Clone Wars made its way into the later projects under Disney. At least, according to some of the bonus materials and interviews that Filoni has been on/done.

"Walt Disney is reportedly exploring strategic options for Star India -- once a key part of the company's Fox media assets acquisition that has struggled after a change in cricket fortunes.

The company has engaged in early-stage talks with at least one bank about how to help its India business grow while sharing costs somehow, whether that includes a joint venture or a sale of the operation, the WSJ reported."

The same George who was publicly berated for the prequel trilogies? And even for Return of the Jedi?

And let the Expanded Universe become a self-contradictory mess?

Is there any wonder why Disney would want a new direction?

Sorry didn't see your post before I posted mine.

Don't be fooled, Bob is selling this fast. Who would want to JV with a falling knife.
