Indy5 cost $300M to make. It has grossed $154M .If Kennedy survives without getting fired , she has more than 9 lives.
She’s a human shield…

Similar to Bob chapek (until he wasn’t)…so was Christine McCarthy (until she wasn’t)…so is Josh of the House of Tight Pants.

Board control has been effectively lost. It will get worse before it gets better…and That’s a big “if”

She’s there to be a “problem” That diverts away from the actual problem.

Also…and this is industry here say but you can kinda see it…it’s been suggested that nobody wants that job. They probably have been shopping it. But is such a rats nest at this point that you can only get a 70 year old that isn’t risking much

Do a feige or a favreau really want to put themselves in the crosshairs at their career stage?

I wouldn’t.

You really want to know the answer? There truly is ONLY 1. Sell all of your DIS stock and tell others to as well… stock tanks and they have NO choice but to get rid of him… it truly is pretty much that simple
65% who own Disney stock are institutional investors. Good luck with that.

I just saw that tweet claiming Iger is gonna extend his contract.

WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO TO GET RID OF THE GUY?

He could. But we really don't know. A single tweet doesn't change the fact that we really don't know.

If you were to believe Tweets, Kathleen Kennedy would have been fired eight years ago.

Your charts would be far more impressive if she had been

It probably cost alot more than $300M, once you consider reshoots (which rarely get included in the posted budget). They actually had to bring in John Williams to re-record score sections, the reshoots were that significant. Then you add in massive promotion - the real Disney cost of this movie is likely somewhere between $450-500M. Once you factor in splits with theaters, you're looking at needing $8-900M gross just to break even. Like Little Mermaid and AntMan, this will be a colossal bomb - probably the biggest one they've had.

Oh....and anyone thinking that Crystal Skull is a worse movie than this is snorting the tea leaves, not reading them. At least during crystal skull a portion of Indy's stunts were believable. On every level, this movie was a hot mess from beginning to end. It deserves to bomb....and Kennedy deserves to be fired because of it. At one point, I was convinced that Iger was setting up Kennedy to take the hit on Indy, just like John Carter set up Rich Ross...She wont. But she deserves to be.

Wow. This is actually a brilliantly stated explanation of why Kennedy may still be there.

I had been scratching my head at this for a while. Her track-record with Lucasfilm, following the Disney purchase has been abysmal. She's overseen the destruction of every major Lucasfilm franchise (and even put down Willow for a dirt nap).

Anyone looking to right the ship knows where the real problem is, but it seems they have either zero interest in doing that or they are experiencing the largest case of corporate cognitive dissonance ever observed. When Solo tanked - and Disney's explanation was that it came too quickly after another Star Wars movie, instead of acknowledging the deep-seeded damage The Last Jedi did to the brand...we all knew something was fishy. Especially considering Marvel was releasing hugely successful movies 4x a year without any ill-effects.

She's basically a lightning rod for Iger.

There are many here who say nothing is wrong…nothing was ever WRONG…and there’s no way this can be true.

Because someone with a name tag hasn’t gone up to a podium and DIRECTLY told them…

…dogs are less loyal to their masters than some are to Disney

to be fair Marvel had decades of fan-tested storylines to draw upon. Not to take anything away from Feige, but there was something to adapt. Lucasfilm did away with the two decades of their extended universe which had varying degrees of quality.

The EU was all over the place…I get why Disney tried to get uniform/coherent and totally supported that.

Then they did anything but…and now are leaning in to EU to get some positive feedback and merch push.

Pixie dust is a powerful drug

I think those of us who have been around long enough and experienced the parks and changes over the last 20 years or so see reality whereas some still can’t or think it can never be that bad

Yes. To a certain extent. However, during the recent decline, they ignored some of those fan-tested storylines, to adopt commercially failed storylines written under disney leadership - like Ms Marvel. That, combined with terrible execution since End Game, is what caused marvel's brand decline in phase 4....

It's not as severe as the brand damage done to Star Wars and Indy by KK....and, at least with respect to Marvel, I feel it's recoverable. But it would require Fiege to come out and admit the phase 4 direction was bad from the start, do a soft reset and potentially recast major characters. Sadly, it wont happen....
