Changes coming to Fantasyland

Great idea for a Mickey ride starting in B&W and going to Color!
I have not been, but doesn't the Animator's Palate on the Disney Cruise Line do this?
The restaurant starts off in B&W and turns color by the end of the meal.

Yeah, but each portrait changes to color by itself before the entire room goes into color after a nice animated film.

Wait...where are the animators?? :brick:

Well they're not at MGM/Disney.

Funny that you mention that. I recently went to the Animation Studio attraction at MGM and there was no mention of the closing of the studio at all... I mean, not one word. And, all the windows were blocked. When they asked if anyone had any questions I kinda wanted to ask a few snarky questions, but I changed my mind.

Anyway, to the topic at hand...
First of all, I'm so glad that something is being done about IASW. Goodness, I hadn't been on that ride in eons, and when I finally did, I was disgusted. It's a mess and needs a major overhaul. Good for WDW.

As for 20K... well... Damnit, this is just stupid. I've read a lot of possibilities put forth by you guys and a lot of them sound great, but the fact is, there's going to be a meet and greet there. How amazingly stupid is that?
Look, I'm not necessarily looking for an E-Ticket ride. That would be nice, but not every swing the company takes has to be a home run, a solid stand-up double like a cool dark ride would make people just as happy as a three-run E-ticket ride. (Sorry, I've been watching baseball all day...)

Meet and greet...

Thanks for the 20K link! Great website!!!

20k Leagues Under the Sea was an E-Ticket attraction! It's replacement should be nothing less. Not a thrill ride, but a family-style E-Ticket with the same attention to detail as Pirates, Haunted Mansion, or the original 20k.

I liked the idea of an omnimover using the 20k sets. That would be great.

Bulldozing the lagoon and turning the area into shops or a meet and greet would be worse to me than just letting it just sit and rot.

I totally agree. With current management, I'm almost relieved that they haven't replaced 20K yet. Not that I have hope for its return, but I at least know it hasn't been converted into something crappy yet.

Damn it! No cheap EMV knock-off. I want storybookland!!!!! Because it has a choo-choo train and a boat ride!!!! And you get to see models of stuff!!! It also provides beautiful gracious scenery instead of an old rocky lagoon or shops/buildings, or a mountain.

There are so many people who want Mr. Toad to come back, why don't ehy build a enchanced version of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride where 20k is now! That would be a new twist on a classic ride!! Many people would like it, and the 20k show building was so big they would probally have room for another ride off of Toontown, Maybe a Mickey theamed Ride Or Rodger Rabbits Cartoon spin. It will probally never happen to Fantasyland. I hope what ever happens it is worth-while, and personally i would not like to see a meet and greet area!!

That gets my vote. As far as I'm concerned, 20K never really fit the Fantasyland theme. With its rocks and palm trees, I always thought it would fit visually (and story-wise) into Adventureland. Nowadays, I think its likely we'll eventually see a copy of TDL's 20K attraction brought to MGM.

That's cool about It's a Small World. The ride really needed a rehab, and I'm glad it's finally getting it. Let's hope that Disney does the same for some other rides needing tune ups like Peter Pan, Snow White, Haunted Mansion, etc. I'm not talking about disaster rehab like Journey into Imagination, but just some freshing up.

wooh wooh where are you going with this why don't you just say knock down disney and rebuild it it seems you want the whole park to be renovated.

i am confused i could have sware that fantasyland has just been renovated yes i am sure of it i have its all in my photos it was 2 years ago and the whole place was boarded up and we couldn't ride small world.
beyond that i am a fan of the newly rehabed imagination its better than what they had and there was no figment.

I've been eagerly sitting on the sidelines - reading all the thoughts and ideas that need to replace the 20k lagoon. What would I like to see? Well, The way that the lagoon and the accompaning land is positioned it would make a more reasonable entry point (with attractions) for Toontown. Roger Rabbit would be nice, but something tells me that we would be more likely to see a treasure planet attraction before that. I do enjoy the idea of the "classics" ride - incorporating the ideas of Storybook Land but making it both a dark ride and a outdoor ride as well.

I don't believe there should be a coaster in Fantasyland. Yes, the coasters that have been created for Disney have been well themed and well handled, but all the rides in Fantasyland should be accessable to all!

Is this the start of "villans island"? Neat concept, but is it really needed in fantasyland? Granted, there is really no other park for it, but I assume if they can balance the whole idea - I'm sure it could work.

Votes for things that do NOT need to be in Fantasyland:
-an Expansion to Ariel (that girl's got TOO MUCH if you ask me)
-Nothing that spins or twist (don't we have enough Dumbo rides or Tea cups)

Votes for things that would be a fanboy's dream:
-A Beauty and the Beast dark ride
-Mr. Toad comes back
-Disney Classics dark ride
-a better connection between Fantasyland/Toon Town/Tomorrowland
-Roger Rabbit CarToon Spin
-Anything related to Robin Hood (I can at least dream)

I love Grizz's idea of the Mary Poppins Street (with a ride of course).
As for the Lagoon, the Speedway and Toontown?
Discovery Bay!

I think a Mary Popins ride would go best inside U.K at EPCOT

that is what is going there for now fire moutain is called based around matahorn at DL b/c its just another moutain range to them to add. i would like to see something be done at 20K like w/ the villains and it fits in fantasyland beyond that something at the UK pavilion at Epcot would be nice every other country has something why not UK.
