Very excited about IASW going down for a rehab:sohappy: :sohappy: . I wont be able to ride it till next summer, but heah I dont mind them changing it and making it better. Ive been on this ride so many times, Im glad I can expect something extremely new next summer.

As for 20k, Ive never been on the ride, but Im glad plans are being established to make something new out of the dead space. I dont know about a rollercoaster, thatll look pretty weird there. Maybe something to make toontown bigger like the Roger Rabit ride. Or put in the rides that WDW's Fantysland lacks. ie Pinochios daring journey, or that Alice and Wonderland ride. All in all, very happy to hear about this news.

For some great pictures of 20K when it was in operation, check out www.20Kride.com. www.20kride.com . There is one picture of the catwalks if you havent seen them. I never actually walked inside the show building, but I got a good glimpse inside on a few occasions. The only thing that I could see that was from the ride were several pieces of "coral" sitting next to the dock behind the show building. I tried to get inside once, but only got as far as the storage areas of the building. One of my managers last year took me around to all the behind the scenes areas so I'll see if I can get in the show building some time.
I've kept in touch with managers and they keep talking about Fire Mountain in Adventureland although no one is sure when construction will begin. I would love to see a great water ride in the lagoon area, like Villain Mountain (with or without the rumored VillainLand) as it would be a nice touch to Fantasyland and balance out the rollercoaster/ thrilling water rides at MK. I'll be back down there all summer so hopefully I'll find out what they are planning to do.

WOW!! That website makes me so sad. :(

I really wish they wouldn't remove the Lagoon.

Hmm well best thing to do over at 20k would be to put up another ride, mk has enough shows around the park. As for the ride itself i dont think it necessairly has to be an e ticket, my personal fav would be to get a little mermaid dark ride built. While having roger rabbits spin would be great too i would think that ride might get in the way of fantasyland's themeing.

How about, an E-Ticket...based on 20k Leagues?? Forget the subs and the lagoon, I'm sure WDI can work some magic simulating such things...if you ask me, that would be a nice tribute to the old ride, and a great addition to Fantasyland...maybe it will even get me through the MK gates more often too...*sigh*...just some more thoughts....

OK, please allow me to dream here for a minute. I have an idea for the 20K area. How about a Tunnel of Love ride? Guests can board boats and travel through a dark ride type of ride. As you float by, you see famous love scenes from Disney movies. These include: Lady and The Tramp with the spaghetti scene, Simba and Nala in the jungle, and Cinderella and Prince Charming dancing. There would be no need to fill in the lagoon. Oh well, at least we're getting something there.

By the way, I'm so glad IASW is being rehabbed. It sounds like it's going to be so much better.

For Fantasyland I would like to see The Little Mermaid Ride and the Beauty & the Beast attractions that were planned for DLP.
I love Grizz's idea of the Mary Poppins Street (with a ride of course).
As for the Lagoon, the Speedway and Toontown?
Discovery Bay!

Scratch a Little Mermaid Ride. With Ariel's Grotto and the musical at MGM, I dont think that would be necessary. Dark Ride/Tunnel of Love ride would be interesting, but my bet would be for an e ticket. Believe me there is plenty of space there to do it and it would be a shame to waste it.

Stroybook Land!!! Nothing else.....

WDW's Fantasyland looks like a giant piece of crap compared to Disneyland's....

I say, Build a new Toontown behind the Railroad tracks, tear down the old Toon town, replace the speedway with Autopia, raise the Sub lagoon, and build a new Fantasyland/tommorowland expansion resembling what Disneyland (besides Matterhorn) has in that general area. Have prett lakes with Autopia nearby with Storybookland and Pinnochio and Alice in Wonderland, motorboat cruise, and Casey Jr.....

And maybe Videopolis.

Just make that area look so damn beautiful. No E-rides are needed. I just want something that resembles Disneyland and not a weak transition from the future to fantasy.

A really good 20K ride could be built in the space of what StarTours takes up. Essently, the whole thing could be recreated in a Simulator and if Disney could get Square to do the video, the ride would be more realistic and better than the dead version that sits in the park right now.

As I have said before, and Grizz is only confirming this. The 20k lagoon will be a path and character greet with some shops and carts. And once the money is found and everything is secured, expect this as a place for Mr. Potter...

Though, by then anything could go there. But right now, Potter is the main plan.

I wouldn't mind a new area themed to Little Mermaid/Nemo/Bednobs and Broomsticks or a nice London area from Mary Poppins. A Portabello Road street of sort.

Now *that* would be cool! What about some sort of Island of Namboomboom (however it's spelled)? Portabello Road could be cool too, but you know that'd be swamped with more stores.

DSpear456 :

many thanks for that link - its a great site (can`t believe I`ve never seen it before!) 20K is one of the few extinct rides thats not been covered in this sort of depth before - brilliant! And if you do get back before demolition I would to see / hear anything you can provide - and I bet I`m not the only one!

Does this mean IASW will be closed for that entire time during rehab?

I agree, it's much needed and I usually complain about going on it, but I would miss it when we go (I confess.)

Plus, it does detract some of the lines away from Peter Pan which gets annoyingly busy in the afternoon.
