CEO Bob Chapek?

Doesn't matter. Intent is the same. It's only the degree that varies.

The purpose is belittlement and dismissiveness of the targeted person and their opinion or action.

However, if you are caught up in the racial aspect of that example then "Crooked Hillary" would suffice. Same purpose as relabeling Iger as The Weatherman. It's repositioning the perception of the target so your audience is more amicable to your viewpoint.

I am waiting for someone to provide a word and definition for what EW did. I am not sure exploitation or appropriation suffice.

:hilarious: From where? Here?

Try doing your own research rather than relying on what you hear to form your opinion.
Sorry. It's just people here is this forum been talking negative about him. So that got me worried if he was chosen as the new ceo of Disney. I thought he might do something terrible. I just not sure if I could trust him if he's chosen.

Laughable.

That's what the idea that Bob 'Chappie' Chapek is somehow qualified or capable of running the world's largest media and entertainment company. A man, that to this day, still needs to be explained basics of the Parks and Resorts business by underlings, sometimes front liners who are praying they won't be axed for showing the man the ropes.

Look, it is very unstandable what happened. Chappie smelled blood in the water, with Iger (rightfully so if the media truly writes about what Bob Iger knew regarding the behavior of John Lasseter and Harvey Weinstein and others) occupied with other matters and had some PR placed out on Bloomberg.

Whether The Weatherman -- a bit of history here ... I am not responsible for his nickname, that comes from people who work near him daily. I only take credit for fans using it. But do I care as much as some flakes here? No. Bigger fish to hook. -- is able to last another 19 months, only time will tell. But there are people readying themselves for a very quick and shocking exit.

As to Chappie replacing him ... Disney is as poorly run as most huge American corporations that focus on the stock price today and the next quarter's results and not the long term health of their companies or all the parts that comprise it. ... one would have to assume the BoD are all suffering some sort of collective brain damage, like they picked up that amoeba during a group swim in Bay Lake last August, to reach that conclusion. About the only thing Chappie has proven capable of is selling loads of crappy Disney, and Marvel and Star Wars, merch (as the kewl kidz call it). What does he know about running their Studio operations? Their television networks? Do you think he is capable of negotiating with the Chinese? Or Johnny Depp?

I get there's a lot of chatter going on and that it is real. But c'mon ... ask yourself why all of this talk is going on now. Ask yourself what is really going on in Burbank right now. And ask yourself if you think the Disney Board is made up of simpletons who are wowed by the amount of Thor costumes, Tink hoodies and BB-8 toys Chappie moved in his career. Or do you think they're the type of people who just want to sit at a boardroom table with a guy who looks like Lex Luthor at the head as he crows about the newest MCU release?

Most importantly, ask yourself if you think you'd be reading this now if Iger wasn't on the hook for Weinstein and Lasseter's repugnant behavior. You really think he wasn't aware of their actions and the payments and NDAs to their victims?

Finally, ask yourself if you hear a certain corporate voice with an agenda.

You mean like this kewl kid?....

This decision was based on IP investment and potential future merch sales, and not much more.

This is really sad. Sorta like an anniversary celebration of a funeral for a friend that started a decade ago and was repeated five years ago. But, hey, so long as people get that crappy merch dedicated to a park that hasn't really existed since the 1990s.

Who do you think should replace Iger?

If you think you can trust anyone in a top level exec role at any company, I'd love to sell you some land here in the swamps.
Is that meant to be sarcasm? I mean, that's clever, but I might take that as sarcasm.

Anyway, I don't know who will be the next ceo? I was thinking a Disney family member like Roy E. Disney's son Roy P Disney, but I'm afraid that will not happen. And I suppose John Lasseter as the new ceo won't happen either.

No...there will be no disney in disney ever again...

Why? The institutional investors - who empower whatever CEO Palpatine they have...will be nervous that decisions will be made for reasons other than strictly profit. And they would have a valid point. It will never be allowed.

Now...should decisions be made at DISNEY for reasons other than profit? Absolutely. Because their entire business is built on legacy, emotion, and reputation. To my previous point...they are NOT GE. And they aren't even Comcast...who built their fortune on a hard consumer product. It was cable...a crappy one...but it is way more tangible than "Disney mystique"...or espn...or even parks - which are built on visual/emotional appeal.

They really need the younger, creative mind...coupled with the older/experienced steady hand.

Exactly the arrangement that built modern Disney. And they need the separate CEO/president-chairman arrangement.

Foils.

Unfortunately...there are no Walt/Roy or Michael/frank couples readily available.

Michael/Frank never worked together. Roy E put them together.

To create a new dynamic duo, you need...

Roy E was an incredibly savvy business man/investor who grew up trained in the business at Disney and was groomed to be its head one day...

...we are fresh out of Roy E's...wish he hadn't been a ridiculous chain smoker like his uncle.

But my point...even with Roy as the glue...was that wells and Eisner succeeded because they could concentrate on two different things at the same time: strategic goals and conflicts...because there were two of them.

The current management is a xenophobic group of stiff collars who won't step out of line.

Even all of Bob's "big purchases" were no brainers...anyone with capital would have made those moves.

Especially Lucas...who sold himself for half price because he was mad at his customers/fans. How dare they rightly point out that he was AWFUL for 20 years?

Did Walt make non-sensical disasters?

...please tell me you're not going to debate the obvious here, are you?
You and I have very different definitions of disasters. There are plenty of people who like all the Star Wars films and I am one of them. The Force Awakens is my least favorite. The original 6 films were my childhood.
