Celeb Sightings at MGM Lately?

Outside of the celebrities at Star Wars weekends, I'm wondering how heavy a celebrity presence there's been at MGM in recent years. In all the times I've been, I've never seen a celebrity, yet Disney hypes the park as a place where you just might spot some. I know that its role as an actual studio has continually diminished in recent years, but it seems like there would still be some. The last time I heard about one was Wayne Brady a couple of years ago. Maybe I'm just going at bad times of the year? Anyone seen any celebs at MGM lately?

Yeah, you have just as much of a chance seeing a celeb at MGM as you would at any of the other parks nowadays. Usually just during special events, or if Disney is trying to publicize something.

Raven was there signing autographs around December (she also held a mini concert thing in the Beauty and the Beast stage), and MGM also holds the Super Soap Weekends and ESPN weekends, so if you're a soap or sports fan, you'd defenetly recognize some people then. Susan Lucci was the big name at last year's soap weekend.

They also filmed the weekly Who Wants to Be a Millionaire show at Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Play It! earlier this year.

I believe it was New Years Eve 2 or 3 years ago. I could almost be positive it was him since he was on ________ Clark's Rockin New Years that night in Florida. My sister swore up and down that it was truly him

You mean you didn't have a pocket sized digital camera to quickly pull out and capture a picture of him?! LOL (Like the commercial. :D )

Poor guy is the last thing I'd describe Steven Tyler as.

On a another note, back in 2002 I literally ran into Roy Disney at the Grand Floridian getting out of the elevator. I was too shocked to say anything but hello.

Ahhh I was just waiting for a Celebrity thread to pop up so I could share my "celebrity" sighting.

Not MGM, obviously, but Joey Fatone from NSYNC/Rent/My Big Fat Greek Wedding was waiting to board Primeval Whirl right in front of us. I wasn't entirely sure it was him, so I snapped a photo. But as we were riding, (he was in the car in front of us) he was waving to some people, and when we got off (he got to stay on for another ride without disembarking... grr...) there was a group of teenage girls so I asked them who it was and they confirmed.

Anyways, here's the picture.

I bumped into Zachary Ty Bryan (oldest son on Home Improvement) at the Yatchman's Steakhouse back in '97, or '98. He sat at the table next to us. My mother asked for an autograhph, lol.

I also spotted a Ferrari Enzo cruising around Disney property a few months ago. From what I've heard, Shaq (who lives 10-15 minutes from Disney) owns one. Since they're only a few hundred Enzo's ever made, I'm assuming it was him.

Despite living in Nashville for 5 years, and bumping into *EVERY* country music star somewhere around town, except for him, I did spot Toby Keith on the Mummy coaster at Uni back in December.

Oooohhh - and I did meet the Disney tattoo guy at MGM once.

I saw the Disney Tattoo guy at the Adventurer's Club once. I haven't seen anyone else at the parks. My best friend did see George Lucas having breakfast at the GF once. Her sister also met Steven Tyler at the GF (I think) once. They stayed in the same hall as he did.

Was it Father's Day Weekend? In '97, he was in a "Home Improvement" or "More Power" Father's Day Parade at MGM. It was my daughter's first trip to WDW. We got a great spot for the parade and I snapped a couple of really good pictures of him. In one of them, he was looking directly at me and in another he was waving to my daughter. He was riding with his dad. My daughter was a bit upset when it wasn't Jonathan Taylor Thomas, but she eventually got over it.

I also saw Steven Tyler--twice during the May '04 trip. The first time we were unloading the stroller at HM and he walked past with a fairly large party and his own CM guide. He's pretty distinctive looking; everybody was staring at him.

The second time was a little more up close and personal--my then 4-year-old had escaped from me at Boma while I was setting up PS for later in the week. He was climbing up and down the stairs right behind me but I didn't see him. So, I'm frantically racing across to Jiko looking for him and there was a guy coming out. He was turned the other direction giving a quick kiss to the girl he was with; then he spun around just as I was approaching. I almost ran right over him (I'm taller than he is). I didn't see right away who it was, I just apologized quickly, and he said, "No, man, that was my fault. I'm sorry." Then he took off like he was afraid I was going to figure out who he was.

Summer of 2000

Summer of 2000

I was a cast member at the Studios in the summer of 2000. I worked at Indy and I was fortunate enough to have three celebrity sightings.

I saw Joe Perry (Aerosmith) with his family as they were being escorted into Sounds Dangerous.

We had just completed a rotation of positions at INDY. I was now up front by the Entrance/People Counter. At this position you would also seat VIPS. I checked the clipboard and a group with the name of McKnight was listed for this particular show. So the McKnight party arrived, and I escorted them to the VIP viewing area. A gentleman (Brian McKnight) smiled and shook my hand and said THANKS! I had no idea who this guy was??? So I walked back up to my position, and there I encountered three of my female cast members. They were going CRAZY!!! You just shook hands with Brian McKnight! I was like OK??? Now I know who he is! (lol)

I saved the best celebrity sighting for last....

It was the last Indy show of the day. It was heavily rumored that Michael Jackson was in the park that day. I had a feeling he was on his way to the show when every manager in the park somehow congregated at INDY.
The show began. A few minutes later through a side exit Michael Jackson appeared and took his seat in the VIP section. (Michael passed right in front of me, I was about two feet away from him)
He had like fifty or sixty children with him. (No joke)
What made the managers nervous was Michael did not want to leave before the show was over. So when the show ended Michael left with everyone else, but this severely BACKFIRED when a few members of a BRAZILIAN tour group recognized Michael and PANDEMONIUM ensued!!! He was quickly rushed out a side exit!

I was amazed that I recognized him as well! But the Disney guest relations escort and fairly large "posse" kinda helped give it away. ;)
