We always pay cash for the castle, because we don't want to use two credits. But I have always been under the impression that the castle was on the dining plan for two credits.

It's possible that the site is having problems. They were having problems yesterday when I tried to make reservations and did some funny things.

I'd keep trying to call.

I may be mistaken, but I think the "charge" is just to hold your reservation. You will only be charged if you are a no-show.

If you make the reservation over the phone or if you link your CRT reservation to your hotel reservation you can use the DDP easier. The credit card is supposed to be just to hold your reservation, but Disney screwed ours up. I booked online without linking to my hotel reservation and it was quite a hassle to switch it to the DDP. I was charged for the meal and I had to go back and forth between CRT and the hotel concierge to get the charge refunded and changed to dining plan credits. If you do book online- make sure the cast members at CRT switch you over to the DDP at the time of your dinner- we were told that they did switch us but later I found out that they hadn't. Ask for a print out of your remaining dining credits just to make sure everything is correct. I thought CRT was completely worth it- it was awesome to eat in the castle!

The reason they are asking for your credit card information is due to the fact that it is a very popular experience. They use your card to hold the reservation so if you do not show up they can charge a nominal fee .. Basically its a failsafe should you decide not to go.

The "nominal" fee being the full cost of dinner for your entire party.

yup- I was also told that the fee is to hold the ressie due to popularity. i.e. come the time of dining, you can use 2 credits pp. My math could be off, but it looks like it's a better deal to pay out of pocket for this one than burn 2 credits on it...that is if you try and get the most for your DDP credits.

They're doing you a favor.

It's the worst food in any of the parks, total slop.

You can get better quality and service at your local super-buffet.

We agree. My family are not "fancy" eaters. There was very little there they would eat. The food was not good in my opinion. The atmosphere however was great, and the kids really enjoyed meeting Cinderella and the mice & Fairy Godmother. We are going to try the breakfast this year, to give it another chance.

I made an ADR yesterday for CRT for a date in august. At first the on-line system indicated my credit card would be charged now for the full price. So I started over and entered my reservation information, which included the dining plan. Then, it still wanted a credit card number, but the amount charged on it was $0.

i did the breakfast and did not enjoy that... it's too fancy for us... i think they served french toast but it was stuffed with something i forget all i know is we didnt eat anything and ended up asking for a plate of kids' french toast sticks which were cold and soggy... the atmosphere was great though...

We go mostly for the atmosphere, but my daughter actually loves the breakfast food too. I think the food is OK, but in any other location you couldn't get away with charging half the price for it.

I know that at some point, I'll need to take li'l Slapperina to the Castle for a meal. But I'm not looking forward to it, exactly.

The first time Slappette and I went to WDW together, we had breakfast at the Castle. And that was before the current pricing structure with the photo package included (it was also before the Dining Plan was an option), so while it was still very expensive, it's not like it is now. Not trying to sound like a cheapskate or anything, but to me eating at the Castle doesn't represent a Value. Not even an "extravagant value" if that makes sense. That kind of money is better spent having a less expensive meal and then spending the balance on souvenirs or some other add-on, like boat rentals.

While it would be nice if the food quality at CRT better matched the price tag, the reality is that the popularity has nothing to do with food. Yes, I'm one of those suckers who'll be forking out the $$$ for it solely to give my DD2 and DD4 a magical experience. If the food is even remotely palatable we'll be fine as long as our girls are over the moon with the experience. :sohappy:

You probably got the answer you wanted but you hold it with a cc - they do no charge you. But you can use your dining plan - it is still 2 TS credits. If you don't show up - then they charge your card on file.
