Cash or Travellers Checks?

Neither really. I use my key to the world for everything. I bring some cash to tip mousekeeping. Everything else goes on the credit card attached to my KTTW.

My first couple trips I took Traveler's check that was up until 2000. Now I carry a little cash and charge everything. Cash is usually for tipping and baggage check-in. I also carry my Disney Reward Card that usually has a nice sum...

We always have both on hand..If you want to get creative or have kids get some Disney dollars..If you live close to the DS they'll have them on hand and are sold ones, fives, and tens.

Traveller's Checks are an absolute nightmare to deal with. It's much better to take some cash and then a debit card so that you can get more as needed (plenty of ATMs around). So many places take plastic that you don't really need that much cash anymore. Also using a credit card in conjunction with a KttW card means less things to carry around.

I go with debit card, with a CC on file on your key card. Even if you loose the key card they can remake one and it has your info on it. Some banks (like the one I work with) will pay you pack the fees for taking out of the ATM. If you need actual cash you can always find an ATM!

I take some travelers cheques, a minimal amount of cash for tipping and use my Visa.

I don't get why people think travelers cheques are a hassle though, I just sign my name and hand it over...that's it. I have to sign my name when charging things as well so it's the exact same amount of time and I can get cash back if I need it.

Besides, I have had my wallet stolen while traveling (not to Disney), called my bank and had the travelers cheques replaced in less than 12 hours, can't do that with cash.

I've never gone to Disney with more than $200 or $300 in cash, and I usually return home with about $100 or $200 of that.

I stay in Disney resorts, and use my debit card to back up my room charge. NOTHING could be more convenient than using room charge for almost everything.

Pay cash for everything. Tried to get Travellers Checks from AAA last January for our trip and they no longer carried them and so tried our bank and they didn't have the denominations we wanted soooooo we carried cash. We do not use credit cards on vacation (although we carry one) unless its for emergency purposes...a new tire, car repair, etc.

We take a mix of both. Use our room key for items that are high priced.

We have never had a problem with TC even at the carts; makes it easy to convert cash.

Also, I set up daily envelopes. I start collecting money and TC about 3 or 4 months before the trip. Then we just take out the envelope of the day out of the safe. At the end of each day all the receipts go back in the envelope. This makes the budgeting process must easier. I can keep track of all the expenses.

We find that if we have TC it is easier to save. Also, they are a nice ‘savings’ tool for the next trip; left over TC get put away for the next year’s trip.
