My family will be there about 1 1/2 weeks after the grand opening of Carsland, and we are all looking forward to it a great deal. It has been since about 1974 or 1975 since I have been to Disneyland. I think we picked a good time to go back. :)

Has there been any news at all about the Living Character Lightning and Mater? I think Al re-confirmed them in his last update, but I don't think we've heard a single peep about them officially. I would think they would have brought them out for the Ellen show or America's Funniest Home Videos; that would be a pretty big WOW to be able to showcase on TV. I hope they don't turn into another Muppet Mobile Labs/Lucky the Dinosaur/Wall-E.

The OCRegister made a brief mention about the new characters here:

http://ocresort.ocregister.com/2012/05/17/disney-unveils-new-facts-about-cars-land/112947/

The Mater and Lightning McQueen characters will move and talk, unlike the static cars that now are staged in Disney California Adventure. Mater and Lightning McQueen mostly will be based at the Cozy Cone Motel, but also will travel down Route 66.

If the line for preview tickets is this long for the CM's, what will the demand be like later in June when all the APs show up?!?

From Miceage today and Mr. Lutz...

EDITOR’S NOTE 5/31: Tickets for Cars Land Cast Member Previews began distribution Wed morning. The most popular evening slots were gone by lunchtime. Lines stretched to two and a half hours, with many CM's taking the tardy discipline and showing up late for their shift instead of losing their place in line. Due to limited availability, only about half of the Resort's CM's will even get a ticket. Meanwhile, the walls around Ghirardelli will have come down by the time you read this Thur morning, and the soda fountain now opens on June 7th. -Al Lutz

Also posted on the blog yesterday, the descriptions of the menu for each Cozy Cone:

We love all the neon signs and the retro restaurants in Cars Land. And wait ‘til you taste the fun and unique meals, snacks and drinks at each of five roadside “wig-wams” in Cars Land. Welcome to Cozy Cone Motel!

Cone #1: Churro bites with cinnamon-chocolate sauce, regular or cinnamon-spiced hot cocoa, and Ramone’s Pear of Dice Soda (desert pear and mojito flavorings topped with Sprite).

Cone #2: Soft-serve ice cream and “route” beer floats.

Cone #3: Breakfast features the bacon scrambled egg cone and scrambled egg verde cone. Lunch and dinner is chili “cone” queso and a chicken verde cone. Sip one of Fillmore’s Fuelin’ Groovy Ades (all-natural lemonade with wild berry foam, or pomegranate limeade with lemon-lime foam).

Cone #4: Pretzel bites with cheesy sauce. To drink, Red’s Apple Freeze (100% frozen apple juice with Red’s special flavoring topped with a hint of toasted marshmallow flavor, and passion fruit-mango foam)

Cone #5: With two flavored popcorns daily, you might find salt and vinegar, pickle, bacon and cheddar, sweet and spicy or nacho cheese. Also serving Doc’s Wild Grape Tonic (Sprite with wild grape syrup and wild berry foam).

Got to ride RSR today. Not really allowed to review the contents of experience, but here's my spoiler-free take on it. Keep in mind I've been pretty critical of Cars Land and very nervous about RSR being too much like Test Track with a new overlay. Looking forward to discussing the land as a whole once it's open to the public. As for RSR...

It is FANTASTIC -- a top-shelf e-ticket attraction through and through worthy of hanging with greats like Splash, Indy, BTM, SM, etc. (Pirates and HM will always sit on a pedestal all their own in my book.) Every single ingredient you'd want in a big, classic Disney ride that will have you grinning ear-to-ear and wanting to get right back on again when it's done.

Oh, and if you visit at night and enter through the wharf -- bring box of Kleenex because there's a damn good chance it's going to bring a tear to your eye. Never seen anything at a Disney park quite like it...

Thanks dweezil!!!! Great spoiler free review!

We're so close to opening! I will be so happy and sad to no longer see construction walls all over DCA.

Not even at DisneySea? :D

Just joshing with you dweezil! This is great news to hear, and thank you very much for the preview! I'm looking forward to this new ride a great deal now.

Ha, good one! :) I still have not have had the fortune of experiencing DisneySea in person, but I'd imagine this is probably the closest we've come in an American park. Needless to say, this pic from the Disney Parks Blog will NOT be hard for the average park goer to capture with an iPhone from the viewpoint I mentioned. There will be absolutely no special Photoshop work needed to pull something like this off...

You are welcome! :) I hope I am not setting expectations too high though. (I don't think I am.) I will say though, you have not experienced RSR until you ride it night. The lighting is absolutely insane!!!

You're definitely not setting them too high. So it's even a better ride at night??? Great news, I love riding the E-tickets at night. Yippie!

DL has done a good job of taking something in a relatively small area and making it look expansive. We were in DCA yesterday and although not able to attend the special event, just fro walking around outside the walls you kind of get an idea of the area the new land encompasses.
