I'm really liking how things are turning out in Cars Land. This looks even better than the movie in my opinion. Though I'm sad because I'm taking a trip to the Disneyland Resort and I'm leaving the day that Cars Land and the Matterhorn are opening:cry:! What can you do ...?

Can't wait until June 14th. We won 4 tickets to the Cars Land preview party.:sohappy:

Congrats!!! Did you win them from the Ralph's/Coke contest?

Just noticed this afternoon (and hadn't seen it mentioned previously): there's a fresh strip of black asphalt down the center of town in Radiator Springs! How appropriate!

Thanks for the update!

Green and purple cars out testing today, first time i've seen these colors at RSR

I like the green one a lot.

Extend your stay! :)

In other news looks like the marking campaign is about to start rolling out.

From Mouseinfo media invites have gone out, featuring the major additions or make overs from the past 5 years.

http://www.mouseinfo.com/forums/con...tml?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed

The postcards are as follows.

Disneyland Resort- The Happiest Place on Earth Just got Happier(perhaps this will be the headline for the campaign?)
Radiator Springs Racers
Mater's Junkyard Jamboree
Luigi's Flying Tires
Carthay Circle Theater- Restaurant and Lounge
Star Tours- The Adventures Continue
Mickey's Soundsational Parade
The Little Mermaid- Ariel's Undersea Adventure
Goofy's Sky School
Disneyland Hotel
Mad T Party
World of Color
Silly Symphony Swings
Magical
Mickey's Fun Wheel
Red Car Trolley
Toy Story Midway Mania!
Pixar Play Parade

DCA's hours have been posted for June 15th, 10am-11pm. I'm assuming the grand reopening ceremonies force the 10am opening time.

Radiator Springs Racers Fastpass distribution

http://miceage.micechat.com/allutz/al042412a.htm
But with the first visitors into the rededicated DCA happily clutching a Starbucks Latte from the Pig Café, they’ll be rushing into a theme park that is going to try and shake things up a bit when it comes to day planning and ride strategies. The first big change the new DCA will attempt concerns the Fastpass distribution area for Radiator Springs Racers. Instead of distributing the Fastpasses for this huge E Ticket attraction in the nicely themed distribution area at the entrance to the ride, Fastpasses for Radiator Springs Racers will be distributed from the area once used for It’s Tough To Be A Bug Fastpasses.

Work has started on the former it's tough to be a bug Fastpass distribution.

I wonder if the FP machines are the ones from Cars Land or new ones, I would assume new ones, maybe WOC FP can be moved here once RSR is done with the area?

Any ideas when any of the daily schedules will start to show up for late June? Touringplans.com does not have anything shown yet, and I am getting anxious to see what the opening and closing times will be.

Per Al Lutz in his last few updates, DCA will be open 8AM to 11PM seven days per week, with a 7AM Magic Morning for Disney hotel guests, Japan Travel Bureau clients, or Annual Passholders seven days per week. Disneyland will be open 8AM to Midnight seven days per week, with a 7AM Magic Morning for Disney hotel guests or Japan Travel Bureau clients four days per week. http://miceage.micechat.com/allutz/al042412a.htm

It looks like they will also go with two Fantasmics, one Magical Fireworks and two Soundsational parades per day at Disneyland, seven days per week this summer. DCA will go with two World of Colors, two Pixar Play Parades, five Aladdin performances, and Mad T Party nightly seven days per week.

The official Disneyland website has been updated with a fun new interactive drive-through of the town as well as some new photos

First is Radiator Springs Racers:

And Flo's V8 Cafe:

flos-v8-cafe_alt.jpg

And finally a description of the restaurant menu and dining areas:

Cruise on in to Flo's V8 Café and fill up your tank on classic American cuisine with a new spin. Inspired by the timeless drive-up diners along Route 66, Flo's V8 Café celebrates the pioneering spirit of the open road. If you're looking for the most popular restaurant in all of Carburetor County, just head towards the signature 27-foot-tall neon V8 sign!

Menu

Get your engines revving in the morning with breakfast favorites like chicken tamales with scrambled eggs or French toast served with salted caramel and bananas. For lunch, try inventive cuisine like Veggie-Tater Bake or indulge in home-style rotisserie classics including pork loin, citrus turkey and New York strip loin. Top off your meal with delicious single-serve fruit pies including apple-cheddar and cherry flavors!

Dining Area and Patio

The food at Flo's is only half the fun! From both the huge glass windows of the interior dining area and the open-air patio, you can take in the majestic mountains and expanses of Ornament Valley — and even catch the occasional car speed past on Radiator Springs Racers.

While you're eating and enjoying the view, be sure to look around to see the mementos from the singing career of the café owner, Flo from the Disney•Pixar movie Cars. Another section of the dining area is a museum that showcases the racing career of Cars legend Doc Hudson.

Wow! All of a sudden, Disneyland has a real, modern website with useful and informative features.

They should use this Cars Land drive-thru format for all the lands in both parks!

With all due respect, WDW's website was and is far inferior to DLR's. I understand that DLR's may not have been the best possible site out there, but WDW's site is buggy with broken links, it has pages that revert to text-only display on colored backgrounds. It has photos, info and links for events that were from last year, etc., etc.
While I admit that I don't spend a ton of time on DLR's site, it at least has a functional calendar that'll show you a day view AND show you fireworks and entertainment schedules. WDW is lacking so much detail and the hours are rarely accurate.
Just sayin'!

Yes, I find the WDW website infuriating at times. Although it works well for me when it's hotel reservation time. But still, I get your point.

This new Cars Land website format of "driving" through the land and being able to click on shops, restaurants, snack bars, and attractions is a cool idea. You should be able to do this for all the lands in both parks, plus Downtown Disney and a version for each of the three Disney hotels. It's a great way to explore the offerings and get the info you need.

Then add a really snazzy, and updated calendar feature showing park operating hours, attraction rehabs, and major entertainment schedules for each day at least a two months in advance. Plus a modern and efficient way to reserve hotel rooms and restaurant reservations and/or Fantasmic and World of Color packages online, and you've got yourself a workable Resort website for Disneyland, and WDW too. If it worked for Expedia back in 2002, it should work for Disney in 2012.

But heck, what do I know? I'm just some dork staring at my computer in my den trying to give Disney my money instead of spending it on other entertainment offerings. Why would I know anything about what a theme park website should be like?

Ha-no kidding! I often think about how much time and effort I spend in planning how to spend my money on all things Disney!

Lucky them!

The menu items for the new Cars Land restaurants are featured in this press release:

Cruising through Cars Land

Flo’s V8 Cafe

Full meals at a quick-service counter, with seats for 300
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily
Inspired by vintage roadside restaurants along historic Route 66, specialties include rotisserie pork loin, citrus turkey and New York strip loin. Signature “veggie-tater bake” is Chef Sean Layne’s vegetarian version of classic shepherd’s pie.

House-made, single-serving pies include apple-cheddar, strawberry-rhubarb, chocolate mud, blueberry-peach and cherry, created by Disneyland Pastry Chef Jean-Marc Viallet.

Beers served are Racer 5 IPA and Red Rocket Ale from Bear Republic Brewing Co. in Healdsburg, Calif.
California wines by the glass include Fess Parker Riesling, Silverado Chardonnay, Chappellet Mountain Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon and Eppa Superfruit Red Sangria.

Boasting “the finest fuel in the 50 states,” Flo’s caters to the growing number of Route 66 visitors and race fans coming to Radiator Springs, with a “showroom” dining area that overlooks the Radiator Springs Racers attraction.
The cafe also is home to Flo’s personal memorabilia, collected during her glamorous career as a singer with the Motorama Girls.

Cozy Cone Motel

Quick-service, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, with 56 seats outdoors
Inspired by vintage “wigwam” hotels along Route 66, each of the five teepees offers cone-themed treats.

Cone Number 1 offers churro bites with cinnamon-chocolate sauce, cinnamon-spiced hot cocoa and Ramone’s Pear of Dice Soda made with dessert pear syrup, mojito syrup and Sprite.

Cone Number 2 features soft-serve ice cream and “route” beer floats.

Cone Number 3 offers savory bites all served in edible bread cones, such as a bacon-scrambled egg cone for breakfast, chicken verde or chili “cone” queso for lunch and dinner. Specialty beverages are Fillmore’s Fuelin’ Groovy Ades, all-natural lemonade with wild berry foam, or pomegranate limeade with lemon-lime foam.

Cone Number 4 serves pretzel bites with cheesy sauce and Red’s Apple Freeze, a fat-free, frozen concoction with apple juice, toasted marshmallow syrup and passion fruit-mango foam.

Cone Number 5 features two flavored popcorns daily, such as dill pickle and sweet & spicy. Other flavors include bacon and cheddar, nacho cheese, salt and vinegar. Specialty drink is Doc’s Wild Grape Tonic (Sprite with wild grape syrup and wild berry foam).

As the story goes, the Cozy Cone Motel becomes home to Sally’s Snack Cone-anza when all the fans flock to Radiator Springs for the big races.

Fillmore’s Taste-In

Fruit and beverage kiosk with fresh whole and cut fruits, bottled water and juices, and soft drinks.
Radiator Springs’ resident hippie, Fillmore, offers a variety of healthy snacks to visitors at his tie-dyed geodesic dome.

The thing I love most about the menu of Cars Land is the fact that it's so unique and different from any other Disneyland Resort restaurant I've ever been to. This is going to be amazing.

Al Lutz on the front page of Miceage.com has the scoop tonight on what all the commotion is inside Cars Land this week.

EDITOR’S NOTE 5/11: Lasseter and Staggs have been in Anaheim doting on DCA this week as the PR campaign kicks off. Media tours of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street where the journalists are put under "embargo" until June are now taking place, along with America's Funniest Videos taping their season finale in front of Flo's V8 Cafe. Ellen DeGeneres is up next in Cars Land, then an Indy 500 spot, plus local TV channels from Sydney to Seoul to Seattle. A wrapped monorail is also in the works. The marketing campaign of the decade is about to begin. - Al Lutz

No big surprise that John Lasseter and Tom Staggs are hanging out again at the Disneyland Resort. I've said it before, but I'll say it again... Do you think maybe they built John Lasseter his own apartment on Buena Vista Street like the one Walt had built for himself in New Orleans Square? :lookaroun

And.... whoa!... a wrapped monorail??? The new Mark VIII's have never been wrapped yet, have they? Scanning memory banks... No I'm pretty sure they haven't since they debuted a few years ago.

Just like BVS excellent food options here as well. DLR may be lacking in table service but all the changes to nearly every dinning facility over the past 5 years have been excellent and moves in the correct direction. I can't think of any dinning location that hasn't seen both a major kitchen tear out and rebuild and a brand new menu.

I'm so tempted to insert another joke about big wigs in the park= new additions... :zipit::ROFLOL:

An apartment wouldn't surprise me haha:) but I can see a window being dedicated to him on BVS and the rest of the team who made DCA again.

No wraps on the Mark VII yet, just the Nemo(1 monorail) and Year of a Million Dreams(2 monorails) on the Mark Vs. This will be interesting perhaps it will just be eyes like some of the merchandise. I would love to see the trams get the treatment.

Like these.

Edit-
Forgot I bet the wrapped Monorail will debut on June 15th haha
