MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

It’s happened before: Rhine River at Epcot actually saw the queue/load building constructed before it was cancelled.

And let’s not forget the Play Pavilion getting the axe despite already having WoL’s infrastructure just sitting there ready for something to go in it.
If I remember correctly I recall hearing a rumour that they had 50% of the Play Pavilion's sets installed before the rumour broke that the project had been cancelled. Not sure if this is true or not, but again, Disney is willing to course correct if they see fit.

As for Cars, I still think it's going ahead. Only WDW purists are bullish on the ROA staying, and although Disney could expand Frontierland's footprint to build a Cars miniland, I still think they want the ROA gone, citing allegedly extremely high maintenance costs, and the comparatively small sect of WDW's audience that actually want the ROA saved.

Pretty sure people has said that wasn't true. It's possible some pieces were fabricated, but I don't think anything meaningful was ever installed, roof overlay excepted.

Everything about this ride sounds terrible.

  • “Off brand” Cars, not even like in the movie like RSR!
  • Tracked ride? Not even new cool tech? (But to be fair the new tech would probably constantly break down)
  • Destroying ROA for a dirt road ride in Florida where people go off road on four wheelers and what not anyway. Any good redneck can have more fun doing this with an ATV.
  • Removing all the water features for what may end up being like one waterfall I bet

I am thoroughly unimpressed.

It’s bemusing how quickly speculation mounts about a project cancellation hours after it has been reaffirmed. Talk about stages of grief.
Lots of hardcore fans hate seeing Ca-chow Ca-chow running through the wild West.
If the keep (or expand the budget if needed) I think it could be really cool, lots of fun, and very beautiful ...

... But it's a big IF
And the IP doesn't fit Frontierland. Seeing the images from today, it's looking less impressive by the minute

It really not going to be Frontierland anymore - at least not in the way it was, set in a certain time period.

More a broader set of exploring the various areas of the US/North America (Southwest, Bayou, East Coast (LS area), Rocky Mountain/National Parks

Might be best if they just change the name so people don't try to force what is coming into the old view of Frontierland

Might as well change the name of the park too. They are moving so far away from what the parks theme were. Might as well add a bunch of Giga coasters too with exposed steel. There is no rhyme or reason for additions other than getting IP into the parks.

I don’t like this either but magic kingdom doesn’t really have 1 defined theme. The individual lands do but not the park as a whole.

Anybody excited for the Cars attraction replacing the classic Rivers of America is not a true Disney fan.
Why?
At some point folks are going to embrace the fact that change is coming. And that means some classic rides and attractions are leaving. I am a huge Disney fan. I will hold my judgment til it’s built. I was a huge Movie ride fan, but love Runaway railway.

Change doesn’t have to be bad just cause it’s change
