Yes,..build this damn Cars thing. OK!...but just build it AWAY from Disney's Rivers of America! Hell,..or just tear down the motor Speedway and put Cars on top of that instead! Ugggg.

Thats great. Add Rivers and TSI to that list and we are set. Put Cars in place of Indy at DHS.

I don't understand why so many fans don't care about theme of a park or placement.

Because they’re only fans of rides and experiences, not fans of Walt’s ideology of place-making.

Not a bad mentality when it comes to small local parks or coaster parks like Six Flags or Sea World, but Disney was always meant to be superior to that.

The part that astonishes me the most is that Iger is 74 years old. I’m 12 years younger than him. How does he not, seem, to understand the Disney brand as it was intended by Walt…?!?!?!
I get the whole stockholder thing, but, dude, you’re either dumber than a stump Disney-wise, or you need to grow a spine and/or some bells, man.

Why?
At some point folks are going to embrace the fact that change is coming. And that means some classic rides and attractions are leaving. I am a huge Disney fan. I will hold my judgment til it’s built. I was a huge Movie ride fan, but love Runaway railway.

Change doesn’t have to be bad just cause it’s change
Change for the sake of change is not a virtue.
This is where the naysayers to this project actually are losing me. I can understand not wanting the river to go (even if I disagree) and I can understand not loving it being Cars (I don’t either) but this idea specifically…I just really don’t understand how all of that is a bad thing.

Why do we need Frontierland to stay so locked into a certain time period or certain place when we could look so much wider and do so much more with it? It feels like every theme park on earth has their own spin on a Western style land, including other Disney parks. Changing one of them to have a broader scope and more varied interpretations of the word “frontier” is far from a bad idea.

I just don’t understand what it is about the current form of Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland that is so worthy of keeping as it is. If it were Disneyland or Paris, I’d understand, but this Frontierland could be so much better and look so much further than the same tired Western style that’s gotten so stale over the years.
“Here we experience the story of our country's past ... the colorful drama of Frontier America in the exciting days of the covered wagon and the stage coach ... the advent of the railroad ... and the romantic riverboat. Frontierland is a tribute to the faith, courage and ingenuity of the pioneers who blazed the trails across America.”

This is the Frontierland that Walt Disney envisioned and now modern Disney wants to destroy it.

I understood the whole Disney thing when I entered the park as a third grader the year it opened.
It's astonishing and sad to see these people destroy it.

Iger is not a theme park man, he’s barely even a movies and tv man. He’s an acquisitions and mergers man.

In his mind, theme parks that cater to family entertainment are secondary to and should only exist to support his mission to grow TWDC into the world’s foremost media conglomerate.

And far too many here have that mindset regarding any change made in WDW. I hope that I never become that close minded in life.

It’s called holding to higher standards.

And again, had this been planned for the north or west of BTM, very few people would be complaining.

Everyone would love a Moana boat ride….but if Disney decided to gut the Magic Kingdom’s PotC for it (let’s face it, the caverns woud be a great set for animatronic Moana to discover the hidden boats of her tribe, while the drop would take us to Maui and “You’re Welcome” right where the mayor is getting dunked) there would be the same wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I’m betting the closed store reopens at the same time this opens to sell cars merch.
Either that or a new merch store. The closed one should be selling CBMJ merch- why they only made a single t-shirt is beyond me. They have a Big Al teddy bear in the new show, that alone would be the next Figment popcorn bucket.

Tokyo has plushes for nearly every bear- I think the only ones they haven’t done are Shaker, Ernest, and Gomer. If they can do it, MK can, and I’m sure the merch will sell insanely well due to both how well the new show is doing and also park fans going rabid for any park-original character merch.

They’re going to build something else in that area.
I honestly think Villains might be on the chopping block. No new announcements for it yesterday, plus a very likely recession on the same scale as 2008 if not the Great Depression… a single ride is a lot cheaper to make than a whole land. Heck, depending on the when the recession hits, Cars could even be cancelled.

I sure do love a recession being on the horizon right when I’m in the middle of trying to plan a WDW/Uni trip for my wife’s family and I to go on next year💀 Maybe we can just watch a bunch of POV videos at home lmao

Yes yes and yes. If they are doing that might as well retheme pecos bill to the country bears too. I don’t think there’s going to be space for a store in the main cars area. Seems pretty packed in as is.

I’ve been saying for awhile, turning Pecos into either a Hungry Bear or a modern version of the Mile Long Bar would be perfect! Tear down the fencing between the exit of Bears and Pecos so people can walk right into it from leaving the show, put new Melvin/Buff/Max heads up with new dialogue, and serve some fun themed cocktails and food and you’d have the Frontierland Trader Sam’s. I may or may not have a hypothetical cocktail list made up already lol
