Captain EO to return to Disneyland, EPCOT maybe?

The Conundrum

Two different things...

Jackson WAS accused of child molestation more than once. He DID pay several million dollars to settle out of court. Those are FACTS.

One can debate the obama thing back and forth forever....the above issues regarding Jackson are NOT in dispute.

Leave it in the past.

Plus....the amount of people that will voice an opinion similar to mine are NOT a crazy minority. Watch and wait. If EO becomes a reality, Disney will get hit with alot of angry park goers.

He paid that money so that they would leave him alone. Of course once one idiot starts accusing him of molestation naturally others are going to jump in for a piece of the pie $$$$. There are plenty of children who have testified that he has NOT molested anyone and these families that sued MJ had a history of FRAUD.

Let the fans give Captain Eo a proper send off. It's not permanent. Just leave us alone and mind your own business.

The theme parks are about children. What kind of message are they sending when they bring back an attraction featuring a man that was accused of child molestation more than a few times.

The theme parks are for all age groups NOT just children. Otherwise they wouldnt be selling booze.

What kind of message does Disney send when they spend millions promoting Lindsay Lohan and that girl from High School Musical who loves posting nude pictures online? Yea real role models for young impressionable children. And they do that every single day.

People can choose to see Captain EO or choose not to.

HISTA has far played its welcome. It would be nice to see a return engagement of Captain EO. I never saw it as a kid (my parents didn't really like his music). For a short time, wouldn't you rather see that there than HISTA? I know I would.

Who, except for the parents of those aged 1-5 even gets or understands why HISTA is there in the first place now? And as a parent of someone age 1-5, who wants to go see HISTA?

I support it's more than overun its lifespan.

The "Honey I..." franchise is an unknown to the current generation.

Seems as if this should be an open forum for discussion of matters related to WDW. That would make it as much our business as yours. Some here will be for the return, others will be against. It's not a matter of deciding innocence or guilt. There are plenty of tributes to MJ out there for his fans. Capt EO has already had it's proper sendoff. Isn't there something else out there, a fresh concept, not a recycled one that can be used?

Ah...Epcot...where the future is stuck up Pixar's behind
You're right. One pavilion really does constitute an overlay of the entire theme park.

There is not really much to justify bringing EO back except that MJ died.

Should HISTA be replace? I think so.

With EO? How can that not be seen as a huge step back?

No you can't, it's not in dispute. There's a validated birth certificate...

Whatever...it's political. people will debate it till the cows come home. I dont have a dog in the obama citizenship fight.

The fact still remains that Michael Jackson spent money to avoid criminal charges and prosecution....

I do not want a man who paid someone to remain quiet on accused child molestation behavior being involved in anything related to Disneyworld/land/whatever.

Regarding the Lindsay Lohan argument, I didn't say I was supportive of it EITHER, so conundrum, your position is tenuous.

I believe half of the theme parkers would not mind or would be happy to watch EO. The other half would not even go to the pavilion much less watch HISTA anyway. Maybe it could spark(wink wink) some interest in this neglected area of EPCOT.

I wouldnt mind a short run(I enjoyed EO even thou I wasnt a huge fan of MJ) as long as they replace HISTA with a new movie after. Just about anything is better than HISTA. I could see an UP or Wall-e 3d movie there. But Id prefer something original.

I dont believe EO will ever show again at EPCOT. How much money and downtime would it take for the show to play there again? Would they even want to spend the money and receive possible bad press from the re-release? Sadly i think the answer is no.

I think the idea is that it would be a temporary thing until the real replacement is ready in a year or two. At this point, either movie is so past its prime that you might as well go with the one that people haven't seen in a while and get a little bit of attention. Personally, if I had my way, I'd rather bring Magic Journeys back for the limited run, as more people won't remember that one, won't create much in the controversy, and possibly come across as less outdated. Then, once it's gone, they could please the MJ/EO fans by releasing a DVD/Blu-ray set of all of the previous 3-D movies.

So true.

I hope Epcot does do this, but I highly doubt it. Regardless of what MJ did or didnt do, all of that is debatable, but one thing is not, he was an extremely talented and gifted musician, and I hope to see him in Epcot again.

Watching Captain EO on Youtube is painful, yet I can't look away.

Without the cachet of being the World's greatest performer anymore, seeing Jackson in this pathetic production is hillarious!
And on the big screen........................ Oh My God!!!!!!!!:ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

Smart move by Disney???........................... Well, it will definitely sell tickets.

What I really can't wait for is seeing kids coming out of theater, looking at their parents, asking "WHAT IN THE H___ WAS THAT?????"

Does anybody really believe today's kids will find him cool?
Not a chance, but this will be good!

Besides, a step back is really a step forward, when there's Shermans involved.

WDI learned that lesson in 1999.

Hmm i dont understand the hista bashing. I was in Disney last week and both times i saw hista it was pretty full. As of right now it fits the pavillion. If they put EO there the pavilion will be a complete wreck . As of right now it atleast has a cohesive theme.

Wouldnt it be easier to create a temporary 3d theater in the unused old wonders of liufe pavilion?
