So far, it's just going to DL. TDO doesn't want to pay for it here. I'm not sure I blame them.
Captain Eo was fun ... for the 80s. And I understand all the MJ fans seem to want to see it again.
But Disney shouldn't be about recycling the magic ... it should be about creating new magic. And that pavilion needs it ... badly.
Sorry, I completely disagree with you. Disneyland has done a wonderful job of bringing back attractions some of us thought we might never see again. Before the Tomorrowland rehab in 1998, we got an encore presentation of "America the Beautiful" (gone for so long it was the first time some of us had ever gotten to see it at Disneyland) in the Circle-Vision Theater, we've been given a refreshed Submarine Voyage, the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk-Through was cleaned up and updated (after being closed since 2001), Mr. Lincoln is returning after being gone for five years, and The Main Street Electrical Parade was brought back as Disney's Electrical Parade at California Adventure.
Maybe nostalgia doesn't work for you. But for me, Disneyland is largely about having that sense of nostalgia. Quite frankly, EPCOT Center should embrace some of that, too. Yes, eventually the Imagination Pavilion should get a new 3-D film (or something completely different), but while you're waiting for Disney to do that, why not embrace the idea of having a refreshed attraction that doesn't cost them a fortune (or a lot of time) to reinstall and that, in my opinion, runs rings around "Honey I Shrunk the Audience?" Yes, "Captain EO" was kind of cheesy. So what? It was entertaining, it has great music and dancing, and unlike HISTA, I enjoyed seeing it more than once a trip.
Now if we could just get them to bring back Horizons, World of Motion, and Wonders of Life...
In the end, sometimes what was is better than what is.
