It'll be big here too. I cannot wait to see it again tomorrow!

Yeah, Disneyland's costumes look way better, but also super warm. That might be why we didn't get them here...

Captain EO is still very popular at Disneyland, six months after it opened, so I imagine it will be very popular at Epcot as well. They set up a roped in extended queue on busy days at Disneyland, so I hope Epcot's theater has plenty of queue space.

The theater has limited space. Switchbacks are setup inside the front lobby, but those can only hold so much. The plan is when the switchbacks fill the que will be routed outside into the courtyard (to the left and back of the main entrance) and then run down the ramp to the theater. The que is prepared to go as far back as the rose garden pathway that runs from FW to WS.

It might go that far back on day 1...

While I think that the attraction will be popular and see crowds for sometime, I don't think that it is going to see the response that the DL version sees. When looking at something like this you need to take Disneyland's 1 million AP holders into account. These people have the ability to come and see the attraction whenever they want and some make a trip just to do that. Being the more casual tourist, the WDW visitor, might see it once but won't continue to go back. So the WDW lines should be a bit shorter after the initial rush is over.

I do see your point and have noticed it at DL. Friday nights there are usually "hang-out" places for teens and families.
But there is also an opposite trend; Soarin is incredibly popular here, but only has about 30 min waits at DCA.
It will be interesting to see what trend EO adapts to.

And I think that it stands for the same reason. Soarin is an awesome attraction that anyone visiting the park will make a point to see. But after you have seen it a few times, it can be one of those attractions you don't want to wait for again (especailly since the queue can move a bit slow). So the tourist group is definitely going to line up and wait to see it...but the AP crowd will pass it by for when the lines aren't as long.

On another note, I also think another important factor in that particular attraction is the parks that they are in. It is hard to compare the waits at DCA and any park in WDW. DCA has never brought in a big crowd (with the current time period being an exception), so you have to be careful to judge. Even look at the difference between Muppetvision on both coasts. Muppetvision plays to near full theaters year round in the studios, but it is a ghost town at DCA. The lack of crowds at that park definitely sway the wait times.

There seems to be a bit of a buzz goin on around here that leads me to believe EO is going to draw in some crowds for quite some time. HISTA was really getting old and it seems people are excited to see EO. While it's true Disneyland has more of a local crowd, how many of the 1,000,000 AP are going to go more than a few times for EO? Disney World is going to see a "new" crowd everyday wanting to see it. Plus, unlike Disneyland, many foreigners come to WDW. It's known that MJ was much more popular through his career in other countries where he didn't get a bad rep like here in the states. Only time will tell tho...

You said your own keyword in your response...the buzz has been going on around HERE. We are a very specific group of people that go to the park, and are much different than the common park person. I do think crowds will be high during the first few months, especially since this will be marketed as "new". However, after the initial wave passes, I think that the crowds will be much more manageable and not be stretching back to the rose garden on a regular basis. I do also think that this will have longer waits than HISTA, but it won't be the reason people plan trips to WDW.

And a large number of the AP holders don't neccesarily make a trip to the park for an attraction, but they add a considerable amount of people to the daily tourist.

Ok, I am not exactly up-to-date with the whole Captain EO arrival, so when it will officially open?

I am curious to see the crowds it will draw and the discussion that will arise here as a consequence of the crowds.

You also have to consider that DCA has more attractions than the Studios does, with 5 new rides currently under construction at DCA.

And only 5 of the DHS attractions are actual "rides" where you sit in a moving vehicle, the other 12 DHS attractions are theater presentations (and that 12 includes Sounds Dangerous and One Man's Dream). At DCA, 17 of the attractions are rides that involve a moving vehicle, while the other 10 are theater presentations.

DCA - 27 Rides and Attractions
DHS - 17 Rides and Attractions

But, yeah, at DCA MuppetVision is always a ghost town.

Yayyy :sohappy:
I hope it's there in December and February :)
I have 2 great questions…:
Does anyone know how long Captain EO will be at Epcot?
And did HISTA close permanently?
