Can you move the furniture?

I could have sworn I read a post somewhere of someone rearranging the furniture in their value resort room to give them more space. I think they also showed the floor plan with a sample of where they moved the furniture. Has anyone ever heard of this? Is it OK to move the furniture around? Does anyone have any ideas for this?
Thanks!! (P.S. we will be staying at the POP Nov '08)

Well I guess some people have useful information and others just like to have something to say. As the one reply said some people do like to put the beds together or push one against a wall so little ones don't tumble out. Good point about the dirt underneath though. Again, I wasn't sure I would do this or not, just wanted to know if anyone had ever heard of this. I had no idea people would respond to something they know nothing about.

Just request one of the TARDIS rooms - they're bigger on the inside than on the outside. :lookaroun :D

We don't try to reclaim floor space, but we do try to make sure we don't make it worse. We'll combine and stack luggage on top of the hanger area, load up all the drawers, and make use of the hooks for ponchos, lanyards, and hats.

When we honeymooned we could only get a room with 2 double beds, so we moved the beds together to make it a "king" bed.

Housekeeping never moved them back and would just make the beds up like this every morning.

Hope this helps!

Am I the only person on these boards that doesn't think the Pop Century rooms are small at all?

I guess it might have something to do with the dorm rooms at my school: they're supposed to be singles but the school has kinda sorta disobeyed fire codes and has turned them all into triples.

So, I think they're fine. :ROFLOL:

Anyone who moves something bigger than a chair should be charged a fee upon checkout.

Why, you are renting the space.

That reasoning is as asinine as the fine for breaking the seal on the minibar to see what's inside. How do you know if you want anything from it or not if you don't know what's inside!:mad:

I see no legal reason why the furniture has to stay the way it is. As long as it's still all in the room and not vandalized, there is no reason why a little rearranging would be harmful to the room or the furniture.

I don't think they are small. Smaller than other rooms on site? Yes! Smaller than your average hotel room? Nope! Now, the most people I have ever had in a value room with me is 3 which might have something to do with my opinion.

I don't believe the beds in the newer value rooms can be moved. You can slide the dresser a bit but it's really heavy. We tried to move the beds to create enough space for DD's portable bed to go between them and no luck there. Then we had to move th dresser down just a touch to make enough room for it to fit between the dresser and the other wall.

In all seriousness, though, those rooms are indeed small, and no amount of furniture relocation is going to make them any larger.

No amount of relocation will make the room larger, but it can maximize the space that is there. For example, let's say that the table is 3 feet from the bed and 3 feet from the window. And I'm just making up numbers here, so don't try to pick apart my example. The 3 feet between the table and the window is pretty much wasted space, because what are you going to be doing in that 3 feet? But if you scoot the table all the way against the window, then you've just put that 3 feet on the other side of the table to be added with the 3 feet you already had, so now you have that much extra walking space in your room.

It's the same principle as in your own home when you arrange the furniture to maximize the available space. As you said, the room is a set size and you can't make it any bigger. However, if you take your couch and put it diaganally across the corner of the room, you have a bunch of empty space behind the couch just getting wasted. However, if you line it up flush against the wall, then you have that much more available space in your living room, because you don't have a whole empty corner of the room getting wasted behind the couch where no one can use it.

I can't imagine trying to make two beds up when they are pushed together. That can't be easy. They probably had to move them apart and then push them back together.

I say it's fine as long as you aren't making more work for the housekeeping. You might make a little more room, but I doubt it would be significant. I would also be sure to move the stuff back when you're done, because again, not really fair to the people who have to get those rooms back to "normal." I try to avoid moving heavy objects while on vacation....but that's just me
