Have you noticed how all the malcontents got INCREDIBLY QUIET now that New Fantasyland is nearing completion.

All of the people who spent the last several years on Disney fan sites attacking the Mouse and claiming that all the attractions in FLE would be terrible are nowhere to be found now that we can see how amazing the place is.

I distinctly remember, in particular, the malcontents saying that BOG restaurant would be stupid and terrible and ugly and you name it...and instead it's the most gorgeous restaurant I have ever seen. It's enchanting. The whole FLE is enchanting beyond my dreams.

And all the malcontents are pretending they never said anything bad about any of it.

I wish they would man (or woman) up and admit they were wrong and that it was a waste of energy to be so evil towards these projects for so long. I wish they would just admit that they hate things and complain solely for something to do.

That's usually their modus operandi at the end of the day

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. If anything there has been increased vocalization and negative comments about all the things you have listed. Maybe you should catch up on some recent threads. And by the way much of the criticizm is deserved.

Hate? Because this is a cheap, cop out. Look for the Lightstorm version with launched coaster.

DCA gets Cars Land. Uni gets Potter x2. DAK gets this.
500 Million dollars isn't exactly cheap but. Cars Land and Potter are both great, but why would Avatar be any less of a land? I mean think about it...

Cars Land- Road and buildings
Potter- Road and buildings with snow and a castle
Avatar- Recreation of a large fictional planet filled with unique opportunities to show off new tech

Of course Beastly Kingdom would still be better, but I'm happy with Avatar. I can tell your a true disney fan so I would imagine you'd be excited to know AK is going to be greatly expanded.

I think that Mermaid received the most criticism as we now know, with 100% certainty, that the inside of the attraction is just a clone of an underperforming ride in DCA. I was/am very critical of Mermaid.

I really don't have anything negative to say about BoG, ETwB, or Gaston's. Looks pretty good to me, and if 7DMT continues this great landscaping, and as it has a new ride mechanism, 7DMT could be a big hit, IMHO. (Though I think it could use more dark ride scenes.)

Mermaid has a lot of nice rockwork, but the castle, shipwreck, utter lack of plants save for palms which weren't in the film, make Eric's pad look rundown and planted on a deserted tropical island somewhere.

From what we apparently know about Avatarland:

1. Carsland. Great rockwork, ultra-realistic and more beautiful than the Grand Canyon. RSR is a great E-Ticket, I think Mater's is very good as the ride system is a first for DLR, and I love all of the cars characters. Riding Luigi's was fun, (I guess I might be in the minority, or at least not a large majority?).

2. Avatarland. Unknown landscaping. Hopefully they will do something better than plastic plants.

Flying Over Pandora, i.e. Soarin' 2.0 ride. I've never been a big fan of Soarin', I mean you're just lifted up on a bench above a big IMAX type screen. Weeee. It's OK, but its never on my to-do-list when I go to DLR. The current plans show that the "E-Ticket" is inside of a building with a setup very much like Soarin'. So, the only pluses I think can think of would be a ride vehicle that is attached to a Kuka type system that moves you all over the place. Of course, you'd see other ride vehicles too, and everything you see would be on a screen.

Screens have their purpose, but I much rather see something somebody took the time to build, which occupies real space and looks real.

I would think that the boat ride would be the E-Ticket, like a Jurassic Park 2.0 ride, only in Pandora. But if it's the C Ticket I think Avatarland has really been scaled back.

Great post. The limited pictures I saw posted on-line made little sense to me and now I know why. I can barely change the filter on my AC unit let alone interpret HVAC plans:). Were there any mentions of other buildings or external theming around the main building or will the shops and restaurant be housed inside the "mountain" building with the main ride? I gues what I'm getting at is will Avatarland all be enclosed in 1 large building or will it be more like Cars land with RSR being the main attraction, but other elements branching out from it?

I am guessing they will have separate buildings as they need a "plaza" or square to sort of hold guests in, for a queue, and for folks to just walk around. I'm assuming the boat ride will have its queue outside of the "mountain" as the queue is not in the photo, meaning you'll have space between the entrance point for the two attractions.

I wonder if the showbuilding for Soarin 2.0 will be? Since it is Pandora, I figure they do rockwork and incorporate a ton of plants on it, maybe make it look like a floating rock from a certain angle.

I completely forgot about the rockwork at Carsland! Yes it is beautiful, but on my trip a couple weeks ago I went to DCA and the actual Grand Canyon. I can promise you, it doesn't even compare!

Avatar has been confirmed to have an elaborate rockwork interior, imagineering even hired the genius who designed big thunder and mysterious island (DisneySea). I doubt these plans are the entire land, I think we can expect a couple more attractions. And imagineering also showed off a new technology they created using plants. It lets a computer know when and where you touch a certain plant, that can be used to set off effects.

Disney has never let me down to the point where I hate something, I have 100% faith in this project!

I have my fingers crossed that the boat-ride is actually the promised Fantasia attraction.
We can only hope.

But honestly I think the boat ride will be about the marine life of Pandora, the soarin ride will be the flying wildlife and an unknown attraction for the land creatures.

You do realise you are supposed to be critical of multi-billion dollar corporations, as that is the role of you as a consumer? I suspect most of the people who were critical are enjoying the californian parks, paris, tokyo or even hong kong - and not wasting their breath on it. Oh and life gets in the way as well...

The tech that Disney developed I don't think was mentioned as being for Avatarland, though I guess that is one application. If I am right, doesn't this tech use a screen?

I saw Avatar maybe two times on DVD, don't remember very many rocks in the film. Isn't Pandora mostly plant life?

I hate Paradise Pier, and the fact that you can see the outside world in DCA, including the Grand Californian from inside this park.

I was thinking the same thing when people described a mountain. Maybe the next 2 movies will feature more mountains.

I agree, I still see negative comments everywhere. Examples I've seen, Be our guest does not have a dome ceiling, Tales with Belle - only for kids, LM queue - dead Ariel hanging out front, queue too detailed, it will move too fast with no time to enjoy, waste of money. LM Ride - rip off from DL and C ticket, Story Book Circus - Nothing new here, Mine Train - should be done already. Seems the same to me.
