I'm thinking the "thud" is due more to the (alleged) underwhelming attraction line up than to the fact it's Avatar. Am I off base here, or is that pretty much the overall feeling about these "plans"?

Right, exactly what I meant. People were already iffy on the Avatar theme. The attraction lineup doesn't seem to have changed anyone's minds.

Seems about right to me. The "plans" have no details or specifics on anything. If there is a collective thud based on this leak it's either based on the lack of the 3rd attraction (which is still not confirmed based on the plans that were made public) or coming from "haters" who would have pooh poohed anything no matter what it was since it doesn't have a transformer or Harry potter in it. There is really no way anyone could be disappointed with the actual plans based on the limited info they provide.

Am I still missing the part where it says "This is Avatar Land plans" written somewhere? From what I have seen it is just pictures that could be used for anything.

If they are to make a "soarin 2.0" they would not go far wrong taking a look at KK360 at USH, it is pretty amazing how immersed you get into that, feels like yo are actually in the jungle with dinasaurs and king king himself.

There's no way someone can be disappointing in a Soarin' clone and a boat ride? Really?
Maybe you have seen better versions of the plans than me. I can't really kill new attractions based solely on ride systems with no further info.

Pirates is a "boat ride".

So reply if you have god knowledge on the plans: Is the flying attraction more like Soarin', where you sit still with no animatronics or sets but only a screen, or something like Forbidden Journey at IoA, where you move and swing past screens and sets?

Has Cameron seen/been on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey or Spiderman? I am wondering if he knows what is out there that he is "competing" against.

Does Cameron know that Soarin exists...and that his new "E-ticket" looks to be very similar to it.

I wish he would have pushed harder for something groundbreaking since he is "Cameron" and thats what he likes to do...

based on what i see in the blueprints, it looks more like soarin. I dont see room to be moving around the building.

Of course, I can only speak for myself, but I will never set foot in Avatarland.
Honestly, that is truly bold of you, posting a guarantee online which obviously none of us will ever be able to prove, which is what my post was about... You all scream and yell, NEVER, but we all know you all will, and you all will love it, and then come on here to play your online role, your online persona needs to be kept up... But that's okay... Play the hater role, if that is what your online character is going to be... :)

In all fairness, maybe you are a credible person and will actually back up your words... But, face it, none of us (well very few of us) actually know each other in person, and words typed on here are really meaningless...

Waiting for the haters to continue screaming they will never step foot in the land... Meanwhile, when the land eventually opens, these same people will be posting on Facebook about how awesome the land is while standing in the queue for the E-ticket, but then coming over here and screaming Avatar sucks and they didn't even step foot in DAK because of it...

I can only speak for myself but I will 100% not be setting foot in Avatarland for a few reasons, the main one being I thought the film was boring and terribly over-hyped and I have no interest in it or anything connected to it. I don't know if you're referring to anyone in particular but I have never "screamed" anything, I have explained my reasoning before and I will stick to that because I am not a hypocrite. It won't stop me setting foot in AK; Kilamanjaro Safaris is one of my favourite rides at WDW and I love Everest so Avatarland won't drive me away but it won't tempt me at all either. I've never bashed or criticised anyone who is looking forward to Avatarland or is a fan of the film and I genuinely hope that for those who are excited for it will be happy with the final results. But Avatarland just isn't for me.

I think somewhere there are a team of Disney execs (hey by the way :) ) monitoring threads like this today and laughing their socks off at threads like this.

Well done guys, you have done your job leaking this.

As am I. Personally, I think the Soarin ride system is one of the best things to come out of WDI. It provides an incredibly immersive experience that about 90%-95% of the people that walk through the gates can experience. While I love extreme coasters, I know plenty of people who simply can not ride them. Even my mother in law who can not get on such thrilling attractions as HM and SSE enjoys Soarin.
I agree, Soarin' is the only ride my entire family from may 65 year old parents to my 5 year old twins thoroughly enjoy, and look forward to riding.

An E-ticket boat ride. Not a C-ticket.

That's really my point. People are assuming its a C ticket boat ride and a clone of soarin based on a very limited sketch. I am waiting to see more details. If it turns out that is all it is then I will be disappointed.

If you got the plans to Cars Land before it was built and saw a crude sketch of a "clone" of test track and a C ticket whip style ride you might have the same reaction. If the theming and ride elements are great it is irrelevant that the ride technology is a clone.

I don't like Aerosmith, but I still ride the ride. I might not like Avatar, but I do enjoy attractions.
Essentially, that's my theory. You may not like the franchise, or the movie, but you can love the execution of the attraction.

I understand this project is not what many hoped it would be, but if what they do is created well, then honestly, who really ares what it COULD have been. Enjoy what it is.

Unfortunately, it looks more like it's stationary like Soarin'.

Has anyone else noticed that each plan is for a different level? I don't think it would be impossible that we may see different screens vertically and the ride unit may move up and down (to give the effect of going from land to space and then back down again).

Except that it actually says "C Ticket" on the plans. I have no doubt that this will be where the new anamatronic tech will be going, but it's still a C Ticket ride system. I imagine it will be a lot like The Land only with cutting edge AAs.

Heading for the great escape.

Agreed, except i like aerosmith. i shall wait to see what is created before condemning it. after all it may be another non event or kiddy attraction not intende for old farts with no merchandise demanding sprogs. but then it might.
