And what if i reserve the “prix fixe” and ask for only dessert and coffee. Am I still selfish?
Nope. You’re a Disney dream guest.

Edit: First of all, what you’re positing is highly unlikely to happen so whether or not it would be selfish is purely academic. Second, if a restaurant is set up to serve fine dining dinners and guests are ordering inexpensive coffee and desserts, it’s a problem. If they are ordering and paying for an expensive dinner and not eating it, it’s not a problem at all.

if Disney had an issue with desert, well, the easy answer would be to remove deserts from the menu as opposed to forcing people to have an appetizer and desert along with a meal.

The change is coming because people found a hack theyre taking advantage of. Cali grill has turned into a firework view dessert bar full of screaming kids instead of a signature restaurant where from you can also see fireworks. Another option they could try instead of price fix is making the place 18+ and remove the kids menu.

The heck with people who have kids...they should go to a theme park.

Oh, wait...

I'm not a huge fan of prix fixe because I usually don't have dessert, but Disney may feel it's the best option to turn Cali Grill into the kind of experience it wants to provide. I've had the three-course dinner at Tiffins and I seem to remember the portions being very manageable with enough choices to make it worthwhile. I wouldn't mind this type of change if the dessert options included lighter items like fruit.

Disney appears to have an issue with people making dinner reservations not ordering a meal.
I suspect more restaurants will be buffet, all you care to eat or price fixed.

Or the 100s of other restaurants on property. It’s not unprecedented, Disney already operates many venues at their parks, hotels, and ships that are 18+.

Maybe adults like real food? But also have children. I would agree with you if most of the other options didn't suck. Most in park food falls flat compared to food found in resorts or DS.
But i also feel it shouldn't be a cheap way to watch fireworks. Theres no issue with creating a high barrier of entry here.

I feel like theres some kind of cause here. That this is a symptom of something else.
Inflated prices and or "feeling" like disney is bending you over probably comes into play. The food almost entirely property wide dosen't reflect the cost of said food. Theres this massive "disney tax" that's probably causing a higher amount of this guest behavior. Not saying its the only cause.

I highly doubt Disney will go to adults only for Cali Grill. The prix fixe option is much more likely. I agree that they need to do something to bring the restaurant back to what it was intended to be - a place to have a better dining experience in a location with a great view (and sometimes fireworks).

I’ve been to the brunch several times and it’s been a great experience. There were some children there but we hardly noticed them.

Big issue is Disney fan sites that publish and sometimes suggest these ideas. I'm talking more about posters then the site itself.

I wish they'd bring back the live entertainment like they had in the '70's. I got a kick out of seeing Phyllis Diller there live.

Or... you can let guests enjoy Disney World the way they would like. Want to have dessert at California Grill to end your day? Great! Thanks for visiting Disney!

See how easy that is?
I disagree. You shouldn’t be allowed to tie up space to order dessert. Restaurants are hard enough to get into. They don’t need guests taking up tables for dessert.

You’re arguing the wrong side of this argument
He absolutely isn’t. Whenever WDW has a problem, almost always one they created, their solution is to take it out on the guest. Always and inevitably. Crowds too high? Manipulate guests using convoluted planning software and jack the price way up. Parties too crowded? Cut entertainment and jack the prices way up. People only ordering deserts at a restaurant? You get the idea. The solution is never for WDW to change the behavior that caused the problem, find a solution that doesn’t negatively effect the guest experience, or otherwise inconvenience themselves in any way. For what is supposed to be a world class resort, it’s unforgivable.
