Rumor Bye Bye (Tiki) Birdies?

I'm not saying they should gut anything to build a bar but IF Disney were to close the Tiki Room because it no longer draws enough guests to justify its operating costs, it would be nice to see some of the hardware used in a way that guests could still and enjoy it. I'd rather see them end up in a bar or restaurant than in crates at Theme Park Connection.
I agree with you there, but there is no reason to even think about closing the Enchanted Tiki Room...it still entertains thousands on a relatively small footprint...

Yeah, but in the low thousands.
That tiny footprint and small operating crew (3 cms?) are all that's keeping it alive.

Could they?
When has Disney demonstrated an ability to do this?
Good point...I said it can be done... Doesn't mean that current park management could do this, but they outsource all the time...give it to a company like Thinkwell or other similar creative companies that understand the original attraction and could move it forward... If WDI doesnt have the talent for this there are others...of course it takes management with vision to make it happen...

I think what is being refwerred to as "Lost" is the whole original Polynesian lobby with volcanic rocks and waterfalls... Trader Sam's came in as part of that overhaul. It replaced an old arcade...whach in itself was no loss, but the lobby rebuild lost all of the charm of the original resort... It was puzzling that knowing how successful Trader Sam's is in California that they would have chosen to build the east coast version as small as they did, knowing the demand would be so high.
Traded Sams is nowhere near the Lobby. It's down the hall from Captain Cooks and the only things taken away were an under used arcade and a clothing shop. Trying to bring the lobby into this as something that Trader Sams took away is absurd in the extreme.

Is that what he's arguing?

it's neither absurd nor extreme... Trader Sam's was touted as part of the Lobby overhaul...the freshening of the Great Ceremonial house..indeed it was considered part of the overall project... Yes! It is down the hall... and what the footprint actually replaced was no big loss, but the overall picture I believe he was referring to was the lobby gut job.

That's news to most of us. I've never heard that Trader Sams had anything to do with the lobby project, other than the fact that it happened to be at the same time.

I remember while the Poly TS was being built, there seemed to be a lot of trepidation on these boards that it wouldn't be popular at all with the FL crowd. So I'm not sure they knew for sure they had a hit on their hands until a few months in when it started to really gain traction.

But I agree it is too small and they frequently have some dud-tenders in there. Unfortunately, I can't compare to DL TS, but I find there are enough bartenders who get into it to make it fun overall.

Not to mention the replacement of a lovely tropical garden with poison green astroturf so you can see the bloody castle when you enter the Hampton Inn style lobby.
Embassy suites perhaps, but Hampton Inn come on. lol
Having been to Hawaii and seeing amazing lobbies I was never one to find the old Poly Lobby anything special at all. We loved the new lobby and all that seating is much appreciated when you are waiting on your room. The small fountain could have been done better but overall it is an amazing resort yes even with astroturf and all. As far as TS , it looked to be the same size as the one in Cali inside.
Had to see ignored messages to view the user you were responding too, I can't believe people still haven't started ignoring this guy yet.
I have seen people say that so much about him but I find him amusing at times. Don't always agree like above but sometimes I do. I don't take Disney so serious, all just fun and games to me but I don't have Disney shares. lol

I travel for business and Hampton Inn is about the level Disney achieves, Trouble is they do Motel 6 service,

WDW at the moment does not operate a single hotel to the standard of your average Embassy Suites.

Which is freaking pathetic considering once Disney at WDW was the leader in the hospitality field.

Side bar in march the Birdmobile was not going round and round. Has this been fixed? Or is it just an indication the days of going round and round are numbered?
