Rumor Bye Bye (Tiki) Birdies?

Isn't it cute that those who think they're "more positive" are so dismissive and almost rude to the rest of us "negative nellies"?

Would you post this over in the "Guardians" thread in the DL forum, please? This is absolutely true. Those with positive opinions seem to have issues with those who don't and want to call people out, but it's rarely the same vice versa.

I'd be more than happy to. It is interesting how they like to "call us out" for being negative yet we're the ones who "rain on their parade" so to speak. LOL

Thats how capitalism works.

It is. But it also seems that WDW is slowly and almost imperceptibly ridding itself of the things that long set it apart from places like Universal. Hopefully the new that replaces the old are of the same innovation and creativity as the old things were in their heyday, but Disney's recent track record in this area instills doubt. I think that's what is so concerning to many people.

Interestingly attendance has been growing year on year since UNM closed. Same for CBJ since it got the snip.

The year CBJ got the snip was also the advent of FP+ which has had a major impact on redistributing crowds among attractions. I think that's a large reason for the increase in attendance and suspect the same is true for COP and a few others.

It's ironic, right? We let them have their opinions and continue discussion, even though we disagree, but we can't have ours, we need to stop complaining, and stop raining on their parade, even though no one said a word. Lol It's ludicrous.

So far discussion is back on topic, but best believe when I mention how hideous the new Tower is and how much I dislike the project, someone will drop in and tell me to stop repeating myself or tell me to shut up and my opinion doesn't matter anyway because the project is happening. That is when I will summon you haha!:hilarious:

Anyways, back on topic now.

Do you know the story of the 20K ride and its demise?

Cliff notes version

You mean how TDO did not like the OPEX let the ride deteriorate and then when Eisner came to investigate TDO deliberately put MDE on a broken sub. Surprise TDO got to close the ride then the space was left virtually unused for 20 years (yes im counting Pooh Playful Spot) as part of that 20 years

I find it hard to believe the Enchanted Tiki Room performs to near empty crowds. Sorry but the parks are just too busy for that to happen. Maybe at certain times when crowds are actually lower but in the same day I sat in a CBJ show that was not nearly full, yet the Tiki Room was packed and some could barely find a bench to sit on ... sounds like another case of MK management or someone in charge looking for a way to cut animatronics and upkeep and blaming it on "low performance scores".

That they say hello and know my name on a ride? Not in the slightest; in context, there's nothing creepy about being greeted.
That they use my MagicBand to put photos into the account I purchased? No, that's sort of the whole point of Memory Maker.
That they can surprise kids with pre-arranged birthday greetings approved by parents? Again... creepy?
I guess it depends on how paranoid you are.

No, more like how gullible you are.

I don't get it either. I did pose that question already in the Guardians thread. I'm sure it will be met well :cautious: lol but I am genuinely curious why it's like that.

We don't go around telling people to stop liking the place or stop enjoying certain things or stop being so positive. At least I don't. Most don't, but that's how it's perceived.

But why do you choose to let it bother you? Just post what you want and go about your day. Stop worrying about someone living in the past. And you say an opinion is just an opinion. Well what do you think the rest of us have that you seem to want to dismiss? I've never had issues with your posts but you're accusing us of doing exactly what you're doing.

People, it's just a message board. It's just a discussion board. Stop fretting over who's negative and who's a pixie duster.

That's the thing though, most of "us people" are in agreement with the subject at hand. I'd hate to see certain attractions go away. Most of us loved Epcot in it's former state. We just don't rant about it every second of the day. It's gone, it's not coming back. Reminiscing is great, all out rage and anger over things in the past is something different. And then the proclamations of "I don't go anymore. But I know it's still horrible." "Disneyland is better" come out. This is a Disney site, and these threads are Disney World threads, maybe some of us just want to say "hey there is new stuff, the parks are still enjoyable" because they are, if you live in the present and not the past. It makes me sad to see people spend so much time talking about a place that they don't visit. So some of "us" try to point out facts..maybe foolishly thinking that current facts might bring someone to present day. That's not being a Pixie Duster, it's being a realist.

I rarely any see any of the so called "Pixie Dust Crowd" actually throw out insults or attacks. I don't see them posting a succession of not so passive aggressive, sarcastic, and childish posts either. All I see is facts being pointed out.

I disagree totally with your last statement. I do. Maybe you have them blocked? There are some right in this thread. Why do you think some get so defensive? Like you had to quote "us people" as if I actually meant it derogatory. Tone is often hard to decipher on a message board or even a darn text message. It's not that big of a deal but some of you do seem to dwell on it and let it affect your posting. Do you want someone going around telling you to stop being so positive? Stop posting what you like about it because I hate it. That's not how it is but that's how it's perceived. You perceive it to be "rage and anger" but it's really not ...

I actually agree with a lot of your first paragraph to a certain degree.

No, it's meant to give context to my remarks about attendance, so you'll know I'm not talking about 1985. I'm not the only one in this thread who's experienced consistently mostly-full houses there. Though as I say, I think it'd be way more popular if they'd let people take Dole Whips inside and sit in the A/C, like they do at Disneyland.
Why hasn't that happened!? They should promote this.

I will check it out when I get the chance. And you're definitely right, in regards to your second paragraph.
