From the past. It is called initiative. Thinking outside the box. Rising or falling by the decisions made by individuals. Now this is mostly verboten.

Crushed by over regulation, overreach, lawyers, bureaucrats and speech codes. This is why socialism is the destroyer of worlds. And creativity I might add.

Tangent over. Happy New Year! 🎉

Huh... wasn’t expecting a “socialism” post on here... alrighty! ;)

People aren’t generally mixing martinis on the job or smoking like chimneys during meetings anymore either. Times change. In the age of lawsuits, social media, everyone walking around with a camera in their pockets at all times, etc., many things must be different.

And yes, large companies/bureaucracies have rules and red tape and such.

I just don’t think it’s wrong for a company to have a rule about absconding with company property... for good or for ill... Doesn’t seem like a death knell for creativity to me.

Anyway... back to the missing, previously-discarded AA!

You never worked for a large corporation have you? In a hive?

I have worked for myself and fortune 500 companies. And I personally witnessed the transition from the old to the new. But we are somewhat getting derailed. I made a simple point. That's all.

Yes please. Before we are told resistance is futile. Or something.

One question I have about the "rogue employee" theory, is if they were trying to save the AAs from the landfill, why did they just take Hypothalamus' head and not the whole thing?

Anybody know what his account is called now? I have a feeling he keeps changing it so that Disney doesn't get too comfortable keeping an eye on him.
Kinda hard to keep a following that way... ;)

While his user names haven’t exactly been stealthy, I’d imagine they’d find him regardless if they’re interested in keeping an eye on him online. Sounds from posts like they already know who’s behind the accounts.

I agree. And if it was employees saving what they could from going to the landfill then they should be praised for their initiative. It was the right thing to do in this case.

Still forming your own narratives I see. Old habits die hard, eh?

Buzzy was clearly marked with a do not destroy tag. He was headed to Disney archives eventually. At no point did buzzy seem to have been in danger of being trashed.

I'm just advancing the conversation. You make a good point. Can you verify if they upgraded the electronics in the last year or so?

But "Do Not Destroy" tags aren't a 100% guarantee. They specify to call a number on them, give the ID of the tag they're calling about, and take instruction from the person on the other end. They're more of a "Call the Archives and make sure they actually want this thing. If they don't, we get to smash it now. If they do, we'll remove it carefully".

You know this how? Sure seems to me if there’s a do not destroy tag from Disney archives, that conversation would have already been had. Otherwise we would see these tags all over the place for items that “might” be wanted for posterity. As far as I know, these do not destroy tags are a fairly rare sight.

I'm gonna have to side with @jt04 on this. It's very possible that Buzzy was at risk of joining Skippy in animatronic Heaven, so some employees could have taken it upon themselves to prevent that from happening. If this is indeed what happened, I think removing it before it got destroyed was the right call.

Yes, felony theft was clearly the only rational response here

I forgot I had this photo, I thought I would share it as point of reference for what it looks like when Disney removes an animatronic.
