Bus driver avoided disaster

When i worked at Disney I was on cast member bus to go to MK, we were in a backstage area and came to an intersection where we had no stop sign but the other directions did.

A small car went through the stop sign without even slowing down and slammed into the side of the bus. Honestly it was a minor bump and I thought we ran up over the curb until the bus driver stopped and ran off the bus.

The front end of the car was totaled and we couldn't see anyone in the car...there were only a couple of us on the bus and we all got off to see if we could help.

We found a girl crumpled under the steering wheel. There was no way she had a seatbelt on. She was concious and talking and kept saying she was on her way to work. One girl recognized her costume as a main street vendor and while the driver contact an ambulance, she called MK CM services and told them about the accident.

I checked in with another vendor at MK a few weeks later and was told the girl was OK but had been in the hospital for a few days.

She was a lucky girl...it could have been much worse

Not to make light of the situation...and I'm glad no one was hurt...but Disney should have fired her. She not only endangered herself but Disney guests as well...what if it hadn't been a bus, but another car that she hit?

Nicely done, you likely saved his job!:sohappy:
My one regret was I didn't get the bus drivers name.
I would have like to have followed the case up, but you know you're on vacation. You try to put the bad stuff behind you as quickly as you can in order to enjoy the rest of the time you have. It was my kids' first visit to WDW so there was still so much yet to see, I felt I really had to pull myself away to sit down and fill out the report with the clock ticking closer to our dinner show reservation, I didn't know how long the launch took to get to FW,
I did it for fairness sake, so hopefully the right thing would've been done. I had a feeling the girl that hit her head may try to sue Disney later, but I don't know if she ever did. She seemed to be playing up her injury a bit, in my opinion. I just felt for the driver having to worry so over something that obvious to me wasn't his fault. My niece worked at Kona at the Poly last year in the college program and she had nothing but good to say about her supervisor there. Some people are naturally paranoid, maybe the driver had nothing to fear at all?
I'm a supervisor myself (15 years now) and I believe I've always tried to be fair, If I had been his boss that day, his job would have been safe by me, at least I would have fought for him if there had there been pressure from above.
Because of the delay many of my fellow passengers missed their dinner reservations or ride fast pass times. Each passenger got a CM to help them get to where they needed to go, without any further inconvienence.

I actually wondered if they would. Funny thing is when I first saw her uniform i thought it was for the train crew! That would not be good. The area that we were in leads to CM parking so it wouldn't have endanagered guests but could have hurt other CM's and I never get why people aren't wearing seatbelts these days (of course this from someone whose father never wore a seatbelt for medical reasons)
