I do give kudos to the Sox ownership though. In order to reduce the number of incidents at the ballgames, all shirts that are of a derogatory nature against a player or team must be turned inside out or the person wearing it will not be allowed inside Fenway. Once inside it must remain turned inside out or Security will have a nice little chat with you. After being at one of the games against the Dodgers of all teams and seeing a couple of guys fighting with each other actually pitch over the rail and down the ramp leading to the RF Concourse, I have to agree this would be a good move.

Ohhhhh how could I forget this...

Every interview with any player/manager of the Yankees says that they are not caring that we are creeping up behind them...but then Georgie Porgie tries to grab a forfeit off of the Devil Rays because they couldn't get out because of Hurricane Frances...talk about low. If the Yanks were still 10.5 games up...they would care less. (This is the Devil Rays...the Yankees, "the best team in the American League" should be able to take care of the Devil Rays with no problem...why would they need to get a cheap "give me" win?)

Just another reason why I hate the Yankees and their organization...They have talented players...but they're snakes.

And...because everyone (while the Sox were doing bad) were saying...

"Cowboy Up Yours!"...the new shirts say...

"Here we come....and we're bringing Hell with us"

I know we had a truce about this but... the Rays could have left Florida before the hurricane hit as their weekend series was cancelled. They chose to stay in Florida...and thats fine with me. They were away from home when Charley hit and wanted to be with their families when Frances came thru (who could blame them).

If the Yankees were still 10.5 games up they would probably still ask for the forfeiture, thats just how the Boss is and we all know it.

Hate the Yanks all you want...

Ps....I'll go to the Trop much faster than the Stadium...much nicer, cleaner and the food is better! :D

Is this true at ALL games or just games shown nationally? I've seen a ton of "Spankees Yuck" shirts...but only inside out shirts when it's on ESPN or Fox...dunno though, just might be what I've noticed.

No forfeit, according to a story I just read on Fox Sports.

Selig weighs in:

"Given the stage of the season we are in, and the exciting pennant races, it is critical that we do everything to decide the championship on the field."

Go, Bud...occasionally he gets one right.

I also read that Levine of the Yankees said the team may refuse to make up the game later this week if MLB and the Devil Rays agree to that, but there was no quote, so that might be overblown.

I was just reading a similar story that quotes Levine as saying Major League Baseball told Tampa to go to NY and they refused and will be fined....its a no win situation really.

How can you fault a team (people just like you & I...well almost :animwink: )
for wanting to stay home to protect their families?
I say move on, play the game and go from there, but who listens to me anyway?

Did you say something? ;)

It is a recent change, I think because we still have two series with the Yankees left and emotions will be running high enough. Also, I know that if they got enough complaints from people that were taking their kids to the ballpark(like I bring mine sometimes) that they would probably do something about it. I went on one of the kids opening weekends one time and walked past guys outside the park yelling at the top of their lungs about the Yankees being like a hoover and something that Jeter does. I didn't think that was needed, especially since they were playing Tampa Bay that day. It had been such a good feeling too beforehand since that had been Lowe's no-no. Almost ruined it for me.

Yeah, it doesn't take much for the "Spankees Yuck" chant to start...hmm...let's see...

Tampa Bay vs. Red Sox...at Tropicana Field...yes...it was being chanted
Aerosmith concert....yep...why not?
On the T coming from a Bruins game...sure...that's as good a place as anywhere.

While waiting in line for the Yanks tickets...I felt bad for every parent that had a kid there. (Especially those wearing Yankees jerseys!)

There was one guy that would scream it at the top of his lungs if he saw ANYTHING with an NY or pinstripes. Then, I almost said something to him because this little boy...probably about 6 or 7 came walking up...with a Jeter jersey and a Yanks hat on...he walks right up to him and says..."YANKEES........STINK!" (Phew...at least he had SOME courtesy)

I really can't understand how a marriage or relationship can work when one is a Sox fan and the other is a Yanks fan...that's like an elephant and a pot belly pig mating! It just can't happen....unless you live in South Park

If Mary Matalin and James Carville (an elephant and an @$$) can make it work, then no set of differences is too big.

...and they climb to being only 2 games behind...and pull 5 games in front of Anaheim for the Wildcard...

Swept up the A's in Oakland last night.

(Trot Nixon and Pokey Reese are back and have been activated FINALLY!!!)

I woulda nevah guessed a sweep at Oakland. That's just not supposed to happen.

Side note: How come nobody is giving Schilling any serious love about the A.L. Cy Young? I realize Santana of the Twins and Mulder should be contenders, but how about Curt?

Was it Mulder or Hudson? I thought it was Hudson...and...after last night's first inning...walking the first three batters...and them having all three of those batters score...talk about a bad game.

Schilling should be up for it...his ERA isn't as appealing as Hudson's. (although...after giving up 7 runs last night...that 2.95 ERA should be creeping up to Schilling level)

Actually Wilty, this is getting pretty old :snore: so this will be my last pro-Yankee post. If I do decide to continue to post, they will have nothing to do with the Yankees or the Red Sox. You do have a point about not hearing from me :zipit: when the Yankees were doing bad but I felt, " why bother" we will be there in October :king: . I was watching this thread all along but I wanted to wait until you knew the Red Sox were DONE. And belive me, you know it now don't you.

So I'll still be around :sohappy: but I will leave this topic alone for good :zipit: . Good luck waiting untill next year. :brick:

It's easy to be smug when your team is winning. I guess this is proof that Yankees fans can be the American equivalent of Manchester United soccer fans.
