I just did some math.

Boston's "Rolling Rally Parade" for the Red Sox is along a route that is 3 miles long.

3.5 - 5.5 million people are expected to attend (what a way to narrow it down  )

5,280 feet per mile.
3 miles long.
3,500,000 people

5,280 feet X 3 = 15,840 feet
3,500,000 / 15,840 = 221
221 / 2 = 110.5

110.5 represents the amount of people DEEP per FOOT of the parade route.

(Now hold a ruler up to you and see how much room YOU personally would take up...hehe)

(and that's using the conservative number of attendees!)

(I still don't know why they didn't do the entire marathon route.)

I was thinking about that. They are worried about security, yet, only choose the 3 mile route (Which in some parts, is held on sidewalks no more than 10 feet wide)

There weren't many problems the night they won...but I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a disaster. (Umm...5.5 million people corralled into a 3mile area) Is this ever good??? Especially NOW?

Security...ok...so you have 110 people in a line per every foot of the way (just using this as if it was done orderly)...if one person falls...or...is drunk (you know people will be hitting the bars/clubs tonight until closing and then grabbing a viewing spot)...or a fight breaks out, it'll be a domino effect. If people were dispersed over a large area, you may have a few small incidents but it wouldn't multiply as rapidly and could easily be contained.

I'm going tomorrow, but...I may leave if it's uncomfortable.

Actually, Don't know if you heard, but they just extended the route, to go down the Charles on both the Boston side and Cambridge sides, which was an extremely smart move to do...

Roger Clemens, after living a full life, died.

When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a
modest little house with a faded Yankee flag in the window. "This house is
yours for eternity," God said. "This is very special, not everyone gets a
house up here."

Roger felt special, indeed, and walked into his house. On his way up to
the porch he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a
three-story mansion with a bright red and blue sidewalk, a 50 foot
flagpole with a Red Sox flag flying on it, and a Red Sox logo in every
window. In the front yard was a sign reading 'Welcome To Beantown.'

Clemens looked at God and said, "I don't mean to be ungrateful, but I
have a question. I won three World Series rings, more awards than I can
remember, and I won more than 300 games."

God answered, "So what do you want to know, Roger?"

"Well, why does Pedro Martinez get a better house than me?"

God chuckled and said, "Roger, that's not Pedro's house... its mine."
