buffets

Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Chef Mickey's at The Contemporary are our favorites along with Cape May.

There are many more and I'm sure there will be others along very soon to fill in the list. I hear the one in Fort Wilderness is very good, but I've never been; same can be said of Crystal Palace in the MK, we can never get an ADR for that.

Boma and the Crystal palace would top my list followed closely by Trails End at Ft Wilderness. There is also Whispering Canyon Cafe and the Garden Grill to consider. While they are not traditional buffets they do offer an incredible all you can eat family style meal.

Boma is a very good dinner buffet.

When people rave about the Cape May Buffet.....I assume they are raving about the dinner? How are the ribs? Do they even have ribs....did I just make that up???!

Off to the menus.......!!

Mostly dinner, but breakfast is nice too. And yes, they have ribs (well did anyway, you never know when they change things up).

I like Cape May for dinner because even though it centers on seafood there are plenty of choices for those who do not care all that much for fish or who only eat certain types of seafood. And the desserts!! :slurp:

Besides Cape May Cafe, are there any other outstanding buffets that you would recommand at WDW?

I would definitely recommend the BREAKFAST buffet at the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom.

I cannot recommend the DINNER buffet there, or the dinner buffet at 1900 Park Fare. Both had very disappointing food offerings.

I really like Boma, as does everyone else in the thread. Trail's End at Fort Wilderness is also very good and rather inexpensive compared to many restaurants on property.

Another Trail's End and Boma fan here. Trail's End has a variety of food that you really don't see on the other buffets. More like down home cooking. And the price is very reasonable.

I would go with Chef Mickey and I agree, Cape May is great! I've heard good things about Boma - I have never tried it b/c, well, apparently i'm a picky eater! hee hee  Dinner at 1900 Park Fare is a personal favorite as is Crystal Palace for breakfast. :slurp:

We really enjoyed Tusker House breakfast buffet. Last year was our first time. Chef Mickey's for supper every trip for the last 3 trips. This year will be our 4th, if we can get it with the ADR issues:mad: Hope this helps.

The best breakfast buffet I have ever had was at the Tusker House in Animal Kingdom. I think it's a Donald breakfast safari or something like that.

Excellent selection with fresh fruit and baked goods.

Yikes, I booked Tusker House for lunch - was this a mistake? I sorta assumed most buffets were the same with maybe a few main dishes changed to suit the theme

We did lunch at the Crystal Palace last year and it was a lot of fun. Great variety of food, tons of it and an attentive server. Plus, we got pics with Pooh and Friends, so that was fun too.

Most of them you can't beat.

We have eaten at Chef Mickey's and thought it was really good. Added bonus of Character meal.

Have done Boma's again and thought it was real good. Gives a variety of different items, because many dishes have African Flavors.

We have done Crystal Palace and thought it was good. Though more typical buffet food.

We didn't like the one at Hollywood and Vine, can't say what specific but wouldn't rush back to that one.

I miss Tusker House as a QSR, I thought their rotisserie chicken ws the best counter service meal on property. But we had lunch there in December & it was a great buffet, definitlely recommended.

Boma is a given for us on every trip. Funny story: Last time we went we were "chosen" to be the introductory family to open the restaurant, which would normally be really cool, but our 5 month old baby had just fallen asleep a few minutes prior, after almost an hour of misery & crying. People cheered, the tribal drummers started playing (loudly) and we were shout-whispering "Please not us! Pick someone else, we're so flattered but oh noooooo" and the baby woke up & started crying. Again.

Trails' End I like, my wife not so much, but she enjoys walking around FW & seeing the campfire movie. Handy tip: Because it's one of the cheapest dinners on property, if you're on the regular dining plan, this is a good dinner to pay for out of pocket & use that credit on a Signature Dining Restaurant.
