Breaking News: Space Mountain Rehab

I am telling you.. Miley Cyrus will be featured in some attraction soon.. Watch.. Just watch... Rock N Roller Coaster Featuring Hannah Montana...

By the time Rock 'n' Roller Coaster will be changed I don't think that Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus will be as popular as she is now. I'm assuming that it won't be changed for a while. But I have a feeling that this would take the thread way off topic so.... How about that space mountain rehab? Anyone? :lookaroun

Also, I don't like the ide of stitch mountain but AE was my favorite ride and I would give anything to bring it back. Back when I still wanted to be an Imagineer I wanted to revive the ride at studios using the creature from Alien!

I know. I understood that and it makes me sick just thinking that Stitch took over Alien Encounter. But interesting idea, I always thought they should do something with Alien at DHS

It's getting closer, and I can't believe it is finally happening!:sohappy:

Welcome ... and thanks for the post.

You have a perfect grasp of the current state of the MK's T-Land.

Suck down two grams of pixie dust while listening to the High School Musical soundtrack and by morning you should think everything is just magical and never better!

I had a good time at WDW, but there were a lot of things I noticed that I could comment on about the resort as a whole, but I won't because I don't want to take this thread too far off topic. :)

The LCI is much like any gimmick that WDI comes up with these days ... (and we can go back 20 years with this mindset) ... you get a technology that is kewl and allows you to do many different things in the 80s and early 90s it was simulators for instance ... and they forget that what should always come first is story.

Once you have a story to tell you then find a method (technology ... format ... ride system) that best is able to tell that tale.

That's not how WDI works these days ... especially on WDW projects.

It's more 'we need to justify this technology that we've spent XX years and XX millions developing or we'll be out of jobs, where can we stick it' ... or 'we need to sell (fill in the blank with any character or franchise) merchandise so where can we stick an attraction based upon said character/franchise?'

Now we have Turtle Talk and MILF and Stitch (in HKDL and DSP and soon, in some form at MK) because LCI is what one powerful clique in Glendale wants to shove down the throats of visitors.

I'm not that impressed.

Though I'll grant you that there are too many screens in our lives, and in theme parks, don't forget that LCI includes Lucky the Dinosaur and Muppet Mobile Labs (and maybe WALL-E, not sure what happened there ). Both are thematic, fun additions to the parks.

I was hardly trying to be a "smart ". I was simply pointing out that much has happened across property in the past 15 years. One attraction being closed is not less overall, because from 15 years ago there's still more to do. Or do you really want us to believe you're coming to Florida and not going to any of the other three theme parks on the trip?

Your right I will spend longer at other Florida attractions we are doing other parks this trip, you are obviously happy that the MK of 2009 offers less than 1994 Im pleased for you. Such low standards and expectations do negate disappointment. Personally Im not over enamoured by the prospect of increased wait times on the other major rides, especially given my experiences with break downs in Dec.

Actually getting less for more seems to be the new Disney mantra across all 4 parks though no doubt youll try to find that positive too.

Absolutely - but only as additions to plus existing environments, such as Lucky and the Mobile Lab. Crush fits in well with its environment as an addition to SeaBase, but others that take the place of full blown attractions... when an attractions technology overides any form of storytelling and immersion something is wrong. See Tomorrowland.

Are you kidding me? Wow. Talk about irrational. I'm THRILLED that Space Mountain is closed for most of 2009. I hope it's closed for most of 2010 too! Unlike your "Everything in the world is about me because I'm on vacation for a week" mentality, I can look past what's closed and realize it's going to end up *much better* because of it in the long run. What would you rather? Get a ride on Space Mountain on your me-me-me-trip and have Space Mountain continue to get worse and worse on each coming trip, or miss something that you've clearly ridden a great number of times already in favor of it becoming a far superior experience on all future coming visits?

As far as positive spin across four parks? You obviously don't know me very well. I'm not all "Disney can do no wrong" by any means. I think Mission: SPACE was the biggest waste of money in theme park history, and I was exceptionally disappointed with what turned out to be Expedition Everest.

I think you're totally misunderstanding what he's saying. I think we're all on the same side here. He's just being sarcastic about the state of the MK. Nothing significant has been added since Splash Mountain which I think is the point in this argument. It shouldn't be a problem for Space to go down, but it is because MK Management has not planned accoridingly for this inevitable refurb.

Thank you, though I didnt think I was being sarcastic :animwink:

Im still waiting for a replacement for the Subs, the skyway and the other entertainment that been removed. I want Space Mountain to be refurbed but as Ive said its the impact it has on the rest of the attractions.

As for getting something far superior I hope you are right, and I wont rush to judge given the multiple rumours on this very site.

Personally, I say that Disney has taken the complaints of guests about attractions being down for refurb far too seriously. They need to adequately announce the refurbs so the guests are aware before they come, but not apologize for it. Otherwise we wind up in the state we've been in.

Personally when it comes to SM, while I'll miss it, I'm ok with it being down for 24 months if it means we have a top level SM when we're done. If you're going to close an attraction for an extended amount of time then you need to do the job right no matter how much it costs.

Look, the truth of the matter is, how could it end up any *worse* than it already is?

I'm curious, have you ridden any of the other Space Mountains around the world?

Alright, I tried to open the lines of a civil conversation on the topic with you after everyone told me I was just misunderstanding you, but it's clear that everything you type has to be sarcastic and arrogant.

Its a direct answer to your question. No arrogance on my part.

I deem that any thread over 4 pages should be closed due to unsportmanlike conduct .. haha. Think about it though .. what was the last long thread that was civilized or stuck to topic?

Please, stay on-topic or go to chit-chat. I'd like to know the contents of the thread without reading 18 pages of whining.

Don`t worry - there will be YET ANOTHER SM thread opening soon for sure. It might get to 10 pages before it drifts too!
