Hey guys! I'm writing from the in laws house. Around 9 p.m. I realized there was NO WAY my kids were ever going to get to sleep, so we hopped in the car and headed south. It was odd... because the second we crossed the state border from MI to OH, there was power! and thanks for the company Brian! My trip got even weirder after I hung up with you... :lookaroun but I'll not go into it. *thinks disney thoughts*

I was so worried about you! Don't you ever EVER do that to me again do you hear me missy?!?!?! (Hehehe  )

Hmmm...now...about what happened...AFTER you hung up :zipit:

Is it just me or everyone is making a too big a deal out of this. Like how we have a war in Iraq, Afganisten and Liberia and were fretting over this crap.

I guess it depends on how hot it is.

Everytime we have a major heat wave in Chicago, people (mostly elderly) die. Imagine how much worse if nobody had fans or a/c.

I'm glad everyone is okay. My power stayed on, but around me lost power. Still no news on who has power and who doesn't in Michigan, and phones are out still, well some... My cell came back a while ago.

yeah my power finaly came back on!:sohappy:
it went out just after 4 pm and came back on at 6 am but then it went out again for another 2 hours.

last night we had a huge street party where everyone brought ice cream out of their fridge and shared it. I knew something good could come out of this black out :)

We seem to still have rolling blackouts here in Southern Ontario. I guess until the grid stabalizes they're going to turn certain areas off while they turn new ones on to not overload the system.

Went into work this morning with the power on, and was sent home at noon when it shut off again. It'll probably be a weekend of on again off again electricity.

Could be a lot worse, but it sure tells you how much you rely on electricity!

I'm curious - to those that didn't lose power, did you find the Internet slower? I'm sure tens of thousands of sites were down, and I'm guess several hubs and repeaters went down too.

Hope everybody weathered this a-okay!

Hi all - boy, does it feel good to be connected again! We live an hour north of NYC and lost power around 4PM yesterday. It came back on around 5AM this morning. You can't even imagine the lines at the gas stations around here today..so crazy! My hubby was stuck on a commuter train (Metro North) when this outage occurred yesterday. Fortunately, it was an old diesel train, so they had a/c..but I still had to pick him up about 45 min south of where we live. It was very creepy driving around last night with no traffic lights working.

Needless to say, everything here is back to normal. The phone connections are still not up to par. We still know a few people in the city trying to figure out how to get home.

Based on the news, it just seems like there's a lot of finger pointing going on...I hope they don't waste time trying to figure out "who dunit"; rather update the antiquated system!!!:brick:

Hope everyone else is doing well!

A whole 24 hours without hydro, i didnt think I would make it. It was wierd I was at work when it happended the lights got so bright then POOF! it went black. We had to go around the store and 'collect' all the customers before they could take advantage of no security alarms working. THen our manager sent us home early YAY! The Premier of Ontario has said that we should expect rolling black outs across the provine till atleast monday. Well, hope everyone is OK!

Yeah! Im back!! :sohappy: I missed WDWMagic so much!! I was having withdrawls!!!

Whew! That was indeed an ordeal! I work in advertising, and Thursday is deadline day for the New York Times. Our office was jumping at 4pm and then POOF!! Power outtage! Now, its an old building in an old part of town, and this sometimes happens to us in the summer. The power will pop off and pop on. Only this time, it didnt pop back on! We sat there a few minutes, with the battery backups screetching at us, and then the boss came lumbering up the steps at top speed (hes got bad knees, and to see him running up steps, you KNOW somethings up) He was yelling "TIMES WENT DOWN WHEN WE DID!!" Well, within 5 minutes, phones were ringing all over the office, and we were finding out how severe this really was.

People were stuck in the subway tubes under the river, in elevators, on rides at Great Adventure...people, well, they were stuck. Some couldnt even get out of the city last night. I had a little battery operated tv at home, and I was watching whatever channel would come in (at times, Telemundo was the only one. Lets just say I now know WHY I failed Spanish  ) I saw on one station that the Marriot Marquis in Times Square was not letting the hotel guests back into their rooms. Dont know what the reason was.

Our power was restored around 1:30am, and I had to iron something to wear to work  Most of Westchester came back on in the wee small hours of the morning. Unfortunately, mass transit didnt, so some people in our office couldnt get in. New Rochelle, NY (home to Rob and Laura Petrie ;) ) didnt come back until 4pm tonite! Oh, and our dsl line at the office was down and I couldnt get online till tonite! :(

So far, so good. Fingers are crossed. Im going away this weekend, and as long as they have power where Im going, Im a happy camper
