That would be the Capital District. Albany is the head. Schenectady is the ear on the left, Troy is the ear on the right. My house would be in the darker spot between the head and the ear on the left.

I've been there (not your house, Albany)
My house is where NY, NY and PA all join...not too far from High Point State Park.

Sometimes, I have NO idea where I am!
Actually, my house is about halfway between the southern most tip of NY (where it looks like its going to touch Long Island) and the southern most tip of CT. Right on the Long Island Sound line. Im right near Rye Playland (my Grandmothers house was right across the street!) and not far from Greenwich CT.
Never really realized just how big NY state really is!

Try driving across it!
Drove from Queesn Village (on the Nassau border by Elmont and Belmont Racetrack) to Syracuse to take my brother to college. Seemed like we drove for days!
I haven't been to Rye Playland since I was a kid!

Im going to Rye Playland Thursday night. It's the 75th anniversary and they are having a concert series. Thursday is Cyndi Lauper. Quite a blast from the past

Is Rye Playland the same park in the Tom Hanks movie Big? I think this is the place my Wife keeps raving about (She's from Rye Brook).

Thats the one! The boardwalk scenes where the Zoltar machine is were filmed there, as was the amusement park scene!
Its been in quite a few movies. You can also see Glenn Close riding the Dragon Coaster in Fatal Attraction. When I was in high school, we watched them filming a movie with Nick Nolte and Katherine Hepburn down there. I dont think it was ever released though. Its very picturesque, being right on the Sound and being as old as it is. Its also a National Historic Landmark and one of only 2 amusement parks owned by the government (county of Westchester owns it).
Let me see if I can find a link...
