My Fox Orlando Update 1
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious device found in a bus maintenance area of Walt Disney World. Employees located the object attached to the undercarriage of a WDW bus.
The bus was undergoing routine maintenance at a back stage maintenance facility.
Members of the Orange County Sheriff's Office Hazardous Device Team responded to the maintenance facility to evaluate the device and determine how to proceed.
It is confined to a backstage maintenance area and has not affected the operation of any of the company's theme parks.
Disney employees in close proximity have been evacuated from the scene and all bus service at the Walt Disney World has been suspended indefinitely.
As a result of the suspended bus service, WDW has announced extended hours at Disney's Animal Kingdom until 7 p.m. and all water parks until 6 p.m. Taxi services has also been expanded.
If all buses pass inspection, they will be back in service in approximately 2 hours according to a park spokesperson.
