Orlando Sentinal Update 2

The Orange County sheriff's bomb squad is at Walt Disney World now investigating a suspicious device found underneath a Disney bus, authorities confirmed.

Bus operations have been suspended, but taxi service has been expanded, a Disney spokeswoman said.

A maintenance worker found the device during a routine inspection about 3 p.m. His supervisors agreed that it should not have been there and called the Sheriff's Office. A robot and X-ray machines will examine the device, officials said.

We'll use whatever necessary tools to determine what that object is," sheriff's spokesman Jim Solomons said.

If the device can't be deemed safe on scene, it will be removed and detonated in a safe location. The maintenance building has been evacuated as a precaution.

All Disney buses are being inspected as a precaution, company spokeswoman Andrea Finger said. They will be put back in service one at a time, she said. Taxis will take up the slack in the meantime.

"We anticipate that all buses will be back in service within two hours," spokeswoman Andrea Finger said.

Hours at Disney's Animal Kingdom have been extended to 7 p.m., and water parks were open till 6 p.m. -- longer than usual, Finger said.

There was a number of buses running at Epcot. We're just getting on the monorail now.

Don't know if all bus service there is running, but my family that was at AK was able to get on a Poly bus and are there now.

If the bot is detonating it...wouldn't it be something serious?

After being shown some graphic internet videos by Disney Security of packages being blow up in people's faces, we've always been told to call security and never touch the package. Back in April I found an weird package along side of the walkway eading up to (the closed off) Wonders of Life. When I called Disney Security they said "What's in it?" I said I didn't know. Then they said "well open it." :(

Watch it turn out to be a bus driver's 5-day-old egg salad sandwich. :brick:
I have the strangest feeling that is exactly what might happen.

I also hate at how the news are exploiting Disney. Well, how our news channel is exploiting them....

My Fox Orlando Update

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious device found in a bus maintenance area of Walt Disney World. Employees located the object attached to the undercarriage of a WDW bus.

The bus was undergoing routine maintenance at a back stage maintenance facility.

Members of the Orange County Sheriff's Office Hazardous Device Team responded to the maintenance facility to evaluate the device and determine how to proceed.

It is confined to a backstage maintenance area and has not affected the operation of any of the company's theme parks.

Disney employees in close proximity have been evacuated from the scene and all bus service at the Walt Disney World has been suspended indefinitely.

As a result of the suspended bus service, WDW has announced extended hours at Disney's Animal Kingdom until 7 p.m. and all water parks until 6 p.m. Taxi services has also been expanded.

If all buses pass inspection, they will be back in service in approximately 2 hours according to a park spokesperson.

We have stations in Orlando that love Disney and others love to get dirt on them. They are also doing a story about cruise ships that are failing the environmental laws. Carnival recieved a "D-" and Disney and others recieved an "F." And, go figure, they only interviewed Disney on the matter.

To be fair, the others probably just told them to stuff it, and Disney actually answered questions.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office bomb squad is investigating a suspicious object found under a bus at Disney World.
The resort has suspended bus service, a Disney spokeswoman said at 5:30 p.m.

Hours at the Animal Kingdom were extended to 7 p.m., since guests who rely on buses can't get transportation. A guest at Epcot called WESH 2 to say an announcement was made over loudspeakers telling guests that they were experiencing backups with bus service, but did not mention a bomb scare.

Dozens of buses can be seen lined up near another Disney work facility.
Shortly after 6 p.m., bomb squad members could be seen placing something in an open area near the bus facility, apparently in preparation for exploding it.
The Sheriff's Office said the suspicious object was reported about 3 p.m. during routine maintenance at a back-stage maintenance facility.
The incident is the latest in a series of incidents at Disney World. In July, a monorail pilot died when another monorail crashed into his near the Magic Kingdom. A stuntman died during a rehearsal of the Indiana Jones show in August at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
