Okay, I'm going to start off with my criteria for this:
  • Ride- 5 points
  • Film- 4 points
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Mixtape Live/whatever band is playing across American Adventure- 3 points
  • Smaller live acts- 2.5 points
  • Meet & Greet- 2 points
  • Table Service Restaurant- 1 point
  • Quick Service- .5 point
  • Snack or Bar- .25 point
  • Shop- .1 point
This is what the World Showcase in 2019 looks like (pretend that O Canada and Regal Eagle are already open)

And this is what it will potentially look like in 2022 (I'm obviously guessing with Brazil):

How does today compare to the future?
2019
  1. Mexico (15.5)
  2. France (14.05)
  3. China (12.95)
  4. USA (12.85)
  5. Norway (11.2)
  6. Morocco (9.5)
  7. United Kingdom (9.35)
  8. Japan (8.45)
  9. Canada (7.95)
  10. Germany (6.9)
  11. Italy (5.3)
2022
  1. France (23.3)
  2. Mexico (15.5)
  3. United Kingdom (14.4)
  4. China (12.95)
  5. USA (12.85)
  6. Norway (11.2)
  7. Morocco (9.5)
  8. Japan (8.45)
  9. Canada (7.95)
  10. Germany (6.9)
  11. Italy (5.3)
  12. Brazil (4.45?)
So, what will change? For starters, the UK jumps from 7 to 3, just by adding a ride. France will pass Mexico and become the undisputed #1 of the World Showcase with the additions of the Beauty and the Beast singalong and the Ratatouille ride.

The Germany-Brazil-Italy block will arguably be the least developed of the bunch. For being the first country added in decades, Brazil should be getting a lot more than what we're expecting it to get (zero attractions). Germany and Italy should both be further developed as well (I rarely spend any time in the Italian pavilion, just because there isn't as much to do). Germany should receive the ride it is due, and Italy could have a smaller exhibit of sorts, like a Roman ruins gallery OR a mock Roman ruins area in the back for kids to play on (I have no idea what this would look like, I'm just trying to come up with something original). Canada should have an additional restaurant (QS poutine) and Japan should receive its show or ride. Japan, China, and the US currently have the same number of things to do, but because 5/9 things in Japan are food, it ranks lower, whereas China and the US have attractions.
Ok........?

I agree, Brazil should get a bit more love and same with Germany and Italy.
Yeah, a few countries should get a bit of a clean up as refurbishment goes but......

........OK? So many charts......

Also, Disney, aside from the resturaunts and a show.....a small ride would be nice but I'm happy we are getting anything.
Newest country in years. There hasn't been a new country in Epcot in my lifetime and its my home country. I'm extatic. Yeah, its a bit small but......ok?

As long as the show is good, people will come.
As long as the food is amazing, people will come.
As long as it holds true to the beauty of the country, people will come and take pictures.
And as long as the shops have merchandise, people will stop by.
They always do.

Life isn't about the thrills,dude.

Yeah in my opinion every pavilion doesn’t need a ride but at least one attraction such as a show or film.

Doesn't have to be thrills, but I don't pay to get into Epcot to just eat at expensive restaurants. I want attractions.

Food and shops are not enough. Festivals are not enough. I enjoy the shops, sure. Japan has a great one, and I love looking around in Germany. I definitely enjoy the drinks and food; I have eaten at the Morocco at every trip except for 2017, and I spent part of the last two trips at La Cava.

But I have probably spent 5 minutes in the Italy pavilion over the last two trips combined. Without eating and drinking there (minus the drink I bought at the holiday festival kiosk- not inside the pavilion), there was nothing that really pulled me in.

Let’s just assume that Brazil opens with something like this:
  • A Table Service restaurant that most people won’t be able to experience due to it being reserved 120 days in advance.
  • A show, that could be a musician or band, dancers, or acrobatic soccer players (I’m honestly kind of hoping for that last one, whatever that would look like). This is something that could actually draw some people in.
  • Quick service restaurant. This is what most people will get to eat.
  • Snack cart with cheese bread and whatever else they sell at the F&W kiosk
  • 2 shops that will either being very Brazilian and maintain their identities (like Japan seems to have done) or become homogeneous to the rest of Disney’s shops (like Norway) has
Guests spend maybe 30 minutes there total, if they aren’t lucky enough to get into a TS restaurant. Would they come back? If the food is good, sure, but they may remember it more if there was an exhibit to walk through, a show to watch, or something to ride.

While there are many guests that are fine with just paying more to enjoy their vacation at the shops and restaurants, I like what is included. That could be looking at scale models of Shanghai Disneyland attractions (China), watching a technical marvel (American Adventure), exploring craftsmanship at its finest (Morocco), hopping on a quick boat ride (Mexico), or just learning more about my northern neighbor (Canada). The attractions enhance the experience.

This is going to be my last point. If guests enter at Mexico, they will be greeted by 3 pavilions that all have rides or films, followed by 4 areas (including the Outpost) that do not. On the other side beginning with Canada, the first 3 pavilions will all have rides, films, or both. With France and UK getting something new, and Frozen potentially having a second wave of popularity post-sequel, Brazil should have received a ride, film, or detailed show to balance out the World Showcase.

Love the Ross Perot charts.
If you are going to make your point on a subject, this is the way to do it.
I take some slight pride in my spreadsheets ;)

I just have a lot of passion for the World Showcase and would like to see it reach its full potential (also because Germany and Canada- Montréal in particular- stole my heart and I want them to be better represented at Epcot).

Most people walk by the little details in World Showcase. It would be great to add another country or two with solid attractions while extra plus the current lineup.

I would rank Brazil much higher;)

@Princess Leia love the charts! I'm a data minded guy, so that is awesome! If we could assign a a general amount of time per point to show that people spend more time in the pavilions with higher numbers, the argument could be made with data that the with more attractions, shows etc, people will spend more time in Epcot, and need to purchase a longer stay! That may be an argument that gets TDO's attention.

I would rank Brazil much higher;)

Think there may be able to be a more definitive update to the numbers in the next couple of weeks?

That’s why I hate people trying to justify epcot’s current lackluster state with “Epcot isn’t a ride’s Park! I love the food!” You know what else has food? Disney Springs. And you don’t have to pay to get in.

Which is why TDO treats/sees Epcot as a second Disney Springs, more $$$$ from all those food and drink sales. Was really hoping there would be a shift in that line of thinking by now in management but of course not. Looks to be continuing if those initial FW changes happen,,,beer gardens, rooftop bars, etc etc. We will learn more shortly I guess.

I understand being jaded about certain things Disney related but gosh I can at least find the positive in some things.

Epcot is still a 2 day park for me, but I’ve only spent 1 day per trip there. Whenever I take the next trip (probably 2022), I really am going to need to add that extra Epcot day.

Also, I’m really curious about how long the average guest spends in each country. Idk if there’s a way to time that, unless someone quickly plans a trip to time themselves in each pavilion 🤷🏼‍♀️
