Borrow a Polaroid - from 1982

Check out the offer of Disney lending you a Polaroid camera for the day!

That wasn't Disney, that was Polaroid. Notice the Polaroid logo on the front cover, they probably paid for printing, provide the camera and just sat back and watched the money pour in from film purchases.

One more thing, that wouldn't happen today with the modern digital cameras, unless, of course, they used a special memory card that was only available in the park and you had to pay to get your photos from the card.

Yep Polaroid were obviously heavily involved there. Just thought it was neat that they offered that. Imagine today Sony or Panasonic dishing out a video camera in the Magic Kingdom?

I remember that..We used to beg my mom to let us borrow one but the film was way too expensive..haha..:)

LOL yeah Polaroids always had that "its expensive!" thing to them. I read that they are stopping production of the film anytime now. Its the end of an era.

I love the last line in that add.

"The use of the camera is free, you pay only for the film"

That film was brutally expensive when you bought it in the real world, I can only imagine what that film must of cost with a Disney markup on it.

Thanks for uploading the pages, Steve. It's fun to see how things have changed. I like the little notes scribbled near the top of some of the pages.

I remember as a kid doing a behind the scenes tour that took you to MK, EP, the water treatment plant and the power station among other things. They also gave each person a polaroid camera to use during the tour.

Love the advertising of the coming attractions to movie theaters...

thats something they don't really do in maps anymore, of course thats doesn't stop them from attempting to do that with billboards at the studios.. lol

Great find, Steve! It's so much fun to look back at the WDW promotions of years gone by... Who would have thought Polariod woud have been so trusting with their cameras to park guests?

They probably had a deposit put down for the camera, like when Pal Mickey started out.. or the Kim Possible phones during the first Beta Test.

Correcto. If you check the small print at the bottom of the Polaroid ad, you can barely make out "refundable deposit also required" in small letters.

Yeah its dead. They've stopped making it. Even before i could get ahold of a Speed Graphix and some Type 55.

It's a shame ... I actually have a new (well, three years old now) Polaroid TV and it's quite nice in my home office.

If most folks here find this newsworthy, does anyone remember when GAF was the official photo company of WDW?

Hell, does anyone here remember when you could actually go to a WDW quick serve location and get BOTH Coke and Pepsi?

(showing my age a bit here)

I was going to mention the same thing. I still have some of the pictures I took.
