Body Wars Removed, WOL Closed Forever

Well, personally I'm not sad to see Body Wars go, it made my entire family :hurl: . I am sad about UoE, though. I just think it could use an update but not completely gutted.

Yeah to Disney for updating Epcot, though!:sohappy:

Not completely, but I could see the ride vehicles being gone, a sure sign that Body Wars and WoL will never return as it was...

I don't have any problem with Ellen's Energy Adventure...certainly better than the old UoE that put me to sleep...but it's been 10 years, so I guess it's time for an update. Hopefully, they keep the theme song--one of my favorites from Disney for its wackiness!

Yep, it's unlikely to say the least. Not to say it's impossibly, but what reason would they have to rush. I'd like to believe this, but I tend to need proof.

Well, if they want this done in time for Epcot's 25th, then they WOULD be in a hurry...a complete retheming in 21 months? That's pretty quick for Disney.......if they really are in this kind of hurry, though, I would imagine a sponsor is already lined up or they would have no reason to work quickly--there is no way Disney would foot the tab for something like this.

Huh.

Well as much at WOL hasnt been open much for the past few months +, it was bound to happen sometime.
I figure this is as good as time as any to start a new attraction there. With Iger taking over maybe this is one thing to get startedon.? Maybe something can be done there by spring 2007.?

Poor WoL... Its sad really. If I were them now, I'd probably just tear the whole thing down and not replace it with anything, because I always thought that Epcot east side had too many attractions, WoL included. Becase when I fit everything in future world including WoL, I had no time for World showcase. On my recent trip when WoL was closed, I did have a bit more time for a few things in World Showcase. It may be for the best, but I'm really going to miss WoL.

BTW, about UoE did I read that it was getting replaced or just rehabbed.

find a major sponcer would be the first step

i think they should find a major sponcer like a pharm. comp. like merk or glaxo. some comp with deep pockets that need good public relation. these drug company right now have so much bad press right now they could really get behind something that makes them look good (easy sell) and being link to a disney ride and the WOL would be a great partnership.

See, if WoL had been kept the way it was, and a new sponsor had been found. I don't think I'd like the sound of that.

"The Making of Me: Sponsored by Siemens!" :lookaroun

It was only a matter of time until the immature jokes about Siemens began... :lookaroun

I can't say I'm surprised about WoL. I think we all new this holiday season was the "last hurrah" for the pavillion. I just hope Disney sticks with a quality theme and follows through on it. While it would be great to see a new pavillion for Epcot's anniversary, I'd rather they take their time and have a pavillion that may take longer to finish but that is done right.

I'm very surprised about UoE though, if this rumor turns out to be right. That pavillion still brings in large crowds. Every time I've been there over the past five years, the theater has been at least 3/4 full. It could always use a rehab, but I'd be shocked if they replaced it.

I'm amazed how no one has learned their lesson about believing things they read on the internet, especially when it comes to Disney attraction closures.

Do people here honestly believe that Body Wars was completely removed in just three weeks?

I do believe that that is possible.(and not really rushing)

Dismantling is alot faster than installation !

Everyone seems to jumping on the same batch of thoughts. WOL is going away unless a sponsor is found. Everyone seems to think a pharma. company would be ideal... Many believe a thrill ride is in store...

I have now combined all your ideas into a cohesive whole!!!!

Have the Viagra company sponsor a new ride- It takes the body theme and combines it with the Tower of Terror... You get the picture. :)

Ok. Feel free to shoot me now.

I'm going to second one of the earlier posts about: WHOA --- this is a rumor posting...UofE is running packed rides all day long...and as to the closures of the seasonal attractions, they have been closed off and on not just for the last couple years, but for the last 10 years at least. If there is something new and exciting planned, awesome! If not, it's a bit early to start speculating on what will replace attractions that are still there (albeit seasonally closed). Lets see what happens before we all start playing Taps.

Well, I too find it hard to beleive it's "gone" in just 3 weeks - but perhaps this is an overstatement.

The first items removed would be the vehicles doors - as they are identicle on Star Tours and often need replacement due to wear and tear. Also, they would remove the plasma/flatscreen monitors and the infared cameras and send them to other attractions.

I would also think the projection systems would head to Star Tours for replacement parts - but the actual vehicles are contained within massive bays without any real large outside access. I assume those are still in place, but it's very likely that the interior could be stripped of the paneling, railings, decorations, etc.

Bwars vehicles sit in giant black boxes seperated by large black curtains/masking. So, demolishing/emptying the building would be simple, the main problem is getting the vehicle itself down and out.
