To be fair to Bob, as CEO he is there to give a balance of creativity and return for shareholders. Under Chapek it just went too far the other way. Its the same with all companies today, just a much harder balance when your in charge of an entertainment company
To be fair Chapek did the job he was brought in for. He did all the things Iger wanted.

Also some how that theme park down the street has to balance the same thing but still managed to build a new theme park.

I feel like they should have been coming out lean post-covid...seems like this could have been avoided now. Chapek I guess?
I could be wrong but it doesn’t seem like they really consolidated as much as they should’ve after acquiring Fox. The company has become so bloated and this also seems like a choice to put more power back into the hands of the creatives. Chapek did the opposite

This is why, in this new, creative direction for Disney, they should sell off 20th Century Studios, FX, and 20th Television (plus the IP from said units; forget about the dumb integration thing for once!) It can be possible as long as both Disney’s respective film and TV units are divided in two. Mess with a big film studio and you’re dead! In fact, I think this undoing should start with giving Hulu to Comcast (I believe Disney's better off having just Disney+ and ESPN+ as their streaming services, anyway).

There is always another excuse. If it falls short they will invent something to tell the shareholders.
Only a fool believes anything coming from the management floor of the dwarf house these days.

Bob has been exposed (6 months and he’s not doing well with his same obvious gimmicks and tricks)…and the board is a pathetic puppet show…

…but I’m more concerned in taking the Disney “out of it” for this film and see where it’s at?

Mcu has been destroyed at the BO - per capita - by three movies over the last year…

And how often does that happen?

Since this is a thread assessing disney management and this isnt a “tangent”…

The live actions is just another of the Iger gimmicks that don’t look great since he did the coward quit and return.

I think THAT could be a bigger deal if mermaid does fail.

Everything they do now looks a bit cynical and takes their customers for granted. We want good stuff…same old stuff at higher price behind a label is FINALLY being picked up on

This all reflects back on Iger and his failed leadership.

If the board wasn’t a puppet show he should be gone by Monday morning.

Oh crap…when does mermaid come out?

Even more sauce for the goose prior to Indy…
Memorial day weekend I believe. Typically that's a soft weekend for theaters because a lot of people are going to barbecues. I think Disney is banking on Mermaid having legs (no pun intended). During the last earnings call Bob Iger mentioned how mermaid is going to be setting the stage for Disney's future so at the very least he's banking on it being successful.
