Since this is a thread assessing disney management and this isnt a “tangent”…

The live actions is just another of the Iger gimmicks that don’t look great since he did the coward quit and return.
From day one, I have felt that he was a coward to quit and return. Whole-heartedly agree with you here.

I am in no way an "Iger stan" or an "Iger apologist" or a "pixie-duster". But some of the things that many have said on here just have no basis in fact, I'm not saying you specifically.

Iger is in his straight to video phase. We just call it Disney Plus and live action remakes now.

It means we are excellerating towards him being done.
Actually, Iger is pivoting away from pushing things unnecessarily to D+. He (like other streamers) are capitulating to Wall Street which is punishing their stocks for their streamers being in deficit (which was the plan initially to be a loss leader to corner the streaming market).

They're attempting to focus more on quality over quantity, and to allow more Disney content to go to theatrical and TV release first.

No more stunts like pushing Pixar films to D+ first.

Well they’re smart to pivot away from streaming…because it continues to show that it will NEVER be the 1999 cable that every exec like Iger claimed it would be.

It’s fine…it’s stable…but it should be a marketing tool…not a “profit center”

Nobody wants to pay $49.90 to watch commercials. That was always a pie in the sky dream.

This all reflects back on Iger and his failed leadership.

If the board wasn’t a puppet show he should be gone by Monday morning.
He had a good run in the most juiced, artificially inflated economy in the modern era…

But his tactics/theory don’t look so great now. He came back as “conquering hero”…purely for his ego…and the stock hasn’t responded. That’s not a good sign for “legacy”

What’s the excuse now? There isn’t one…it’s simply fallout from his decisions - mostly - from years ago.

Can you all take your movie ranting somewhere else? This thread is about Disney layoffs and restructuring... not TLM casting.
The layoffs and restructuring is occurring most severely at the theatrical and Disney Plus divisions, and is a direct byproduct of the losses they’ve experienced from their released films. Film performance is highly germane to this topic. I’m sorry it highlights a sore subject for some but better performing films would take care of some of these problems.

Bob Iger himself pointed this out during the same February 2023 earnings call when the layoffs and reductions were announced:

“Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia,” Iger said. “We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises.”

Financial performance - yes. Division performance - yes.

Why I think TLM is a good film or not... not for this thread. The moderator just wiped out a ton of posts for the same reason. Get the hint :)

Even the GOTG financial ones, expressing facts - not opinion or prognostication- were wiped. This probably will be too. Not sure how the underperformance of huge tentpole films don’t affect the things you said, but oh well.

Not personally a huge Iger fan but most big companies are doing layoffs right now. Disney also still has a lot of bloat from the Fox merger and preexisting bloat that Chapek never properly dealt with.
Yes…but all the “chapek” mistakes he has claimed are the problems…are pretty much his fault.

My comment was that legitimate mentions disappeared. But I know I need “tempered” as well.
